Comey on Trump Tapes: I Hope They Exist. That Would Be Perfect

Cortney wrote how President Donald Trump took to Twitter to give former FBI Director Comey a warning: Be careful about leaking stuff because I might have tapes.

“James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” the president blasted out on social media.

Now, you can imagine the reaction from the Left, which has been nothing short of insane, with allegations that the firing of Mr. Comey earlier this weeks reeked of a cover-up, that this is Watergate, and that the White House has entered a Nixonian phase. Al of which is hyperbole on steroids. In his interview with the president, NBC’s Lester Holt asked of he was worried about the optics of Mr. Comey’s firing and his meeting with the Russian foreign minister. The president said he wasn’t. He’s more concerned what happens in the end. Expanding on that—if the end result of this tweet was to keep Mr. Comey in check, something that will also bring criticism, then it didn’t really work out. Mr. Comey is reportedly happy about the existence of the tapes, and hopes they exist.

“That would be perfect,” he said.
