Trump Vows To Protect Gun Rights At NRA Leadership Forum

Speaking at the NRA Leadership Forum, President Donald Trump referred to himself as a protector of the Second Amendment and promised to stand up for gun rights during his presidency. Trump is the first sitting president since Ronald Reagan to speak at the NRA's annual meeting.

“I am here to deliver you good news: the eight-year assault on your Second Amendment freedoms has come to a crashing end,” Trump said. He also said that he will “never, ever infringe on the rights of the people to keep and bear arms."

Trump also said that he would be a "true friend and champion" in the White House and that federal agencies will not target law-abiding gun owners.

The NRA endorsed Trump at last year's annual meeting. It was one of their earliest endorsements.
