Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (R-TX) spoke in Texas Saturday at one of the “Tax March” events, occurring nationwide, demanding that President Trump release his tax returns. Jackson Lee questioned the president’s fitness and “deliberation.”
“Are you trying to direct us into World War Three,” she asked Trump, raising concerns over the president’s recent action in Syria, Afghanistan, and his rhetoric on North Korea.
“You need to know that there was deliberation before the bomb was dropped on Syria,” she said of the airstrikes, adding, “let me be clear, heinous, violent acts against children, chemical use, uses of chemical warfare is inhuman, it is outside the bounds of United Nations international protocols of war. We don’t need to be a wimp when people do that. That is not what I’m saying but was there consultation, did you make the decision?”
“Did you understand,” she asked Trump, “or did you understand what you did when you dropped the Mother of All Bombs in Afghanistan one week later? And are you saber rattling to talk about Korea when every President knows that there is a way to handle North Korea, are you trying to direct us into World War Three?”
“We are not run and ruled by kings,” Jackson Lee reminded the crowd.

Rep. Jackson Lee has been a vocal critic of the president, accusing him last week of blocking “women from healthcare by defunding Planned Parenthood with a reckless Executive Order.” Lee was referring to President Trump’s reversal of Obama’s last minute law which prevented states from defunding Planned Parenthood.
She also tweeted earlier this month that she was “stunned by the attack on Black women by the Trump Admin and conservative talking heads: April Ryan, Maxine Waters and now Susan Rice!”
