People around town are calling it "the Trump bump."
A new phenomena that has emerged in America's economy ever since President Donald Trump won the 2016 election. The U.S. stock market hit 20,000 for the first time January 25, just days after Trump assumed office, and has continued to rise ever since.
On Wednesday, just hours after President Trump's most popular speech to date, U.S. equities went through the roof. The Dow Jones industrial average soared above 21,000 for the first time in history.
Dow stocks climbed more than 150 points ahead of the open, while S&P and Nasdaq futures advanced 18 and 34 points, respectively.
The speech "has gone a long way for the market," Quincy Krosby, market strategist for Prudential Financial said.
