Brazile Says Trump 'Weaponized' The DNC's Hacked Emails

Interim DNC Chair Donna Brazile claimed Russia hacked the committee's email database all the way until Election Day. This "absolutely" happened, she said on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

As Fox News notes, Brazile's recollection of the hacking contradicts what President Obama told the press on Friday. When he spoke directly with Vladimir Putin in September, Obama said he told the Russian president to "cut it out." After their discussion, Obama implied the hacking stopped cold.

In her Sunday interview, Brazile doubled down on the hacks and blamed President-elect Donald Trump for using their compromised emails for political purposes.

“The emails were weaponized," she insists. "Donald Trump used this information in ways to also sow division. I was very disappointed in his repeated usage some of the stolen information. He used it as if he received daily talking points."

Brazile did at least take part of the blame for the DNC hack, acknowledging that the committee's servers were a bit too vulnerable to cyber attacks. They should have followed the RNC's lead, whose firewalls proved to be much more effective. RNC officials took an early and aggressive approach to beefing up security measures. As a result, hackers managed to breach only one staffer's emails.
