President Obama phoned Donald Trump early Wednesday morning to congratulate him on his victory, according to a White House statement. He also called Hillary Clinton and “expressed admiration for the strong campaign that she waged throughout the country.”
Obama also invited the president-elect to the White House on Thursday to discuss the transition.
“Ensuring a smooth transition of power is one of the top priorities the President identified at the beginning of the year and a meeting with the President-elect is the next step,” the statement continued.
