On Friday, GOP nominee Donald Trump had a brief press conference at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. Trump spoke for exactly two minutes and 17 seconds before exiting the stage without taking questions.
Following several speeches by Medal of Honor recipients, Trump first spoke about the military and how it has been depleted and is smaller than ever. Trump said he was thrilled to have the support of the military and how he planned on making the military stronger as president.
Trump then shifted gears to address the "birther" controversy. In the past, Trump has expressed doubts as to whether or not President Obama was actually born in the United States. Today, he reversed that position and stated bluntly that Obama was indeed born n America, and that he'd like to move on from the issue. He then left the stage.
"President Barack Obama was born in the United States. Period. Now, we all want to get to making America strong and great again."
Trump also accused Hillary Clinton of starting the "birther" controversy during her 2008 campaign.
