BREAKING: Truck Drives Into Crowd in Nice, France As Bystanders Celebrate Bastille Day

UPDATE II (Matt): Le Parisien reports the driver of the truck is dead, possible accomplice at large.

UPDATE III (Matt): Witnesses say the driver drove into people, then began to open fire into the crowd.

UPDATE IV: French National Gendarmerie warns people to avoid downtown Nice.

UPDATE V (Matt): Sky News has a livestream of the attack, the casualty report has been revised. 60 people are now reported dead. 73 people are now dead.

UPDATE VI (Matt): Casualty report revised again. 73 people have been killed.

UPDATE VII (Matt): Firearms and grenades found inside the truck.

UPDATE VIII: President Obama has issued a statement , calling it a "terror attack."

UPDATE IX (Matt): President Francois Hollande addresses the nation, says 77 are dead, with most being children.

"France is in tears. It's hurting but it's strong. Always stronger than the fanatics who wish to hurt us."

The Telegraph reports that the state of emergency that was slated to expire on Jily 26 has been extended by three months.

UPDATE X (Matt): Death toll has been increased to 80. There is video of the truck plowing into the crowd. It's not as graphic as the images of the dead plastered all over the news networks, but it's intense. I will not embed them here, but you can follow the links here and here. Dozens have been injured after a truck driver drove into a crowd in Nice, France as spectators were taking part in Bastille Day festivities. Authorities are currently investigating whether this was a terror attack.

The driver reportedly ran deliberately into bystanders in the Promenade des Anglais as they were watching a firework display.
