Friendly Reminder: There’s Fecal Matter Everywhere In Rio

Ok, maybe Rio was a bad choice for the Summer Olympics. Besides the presence of the Zika virus, fecal matter surrounds the city. I mean, every second, tens of thousands of gallons of it every second. Al-Jazeera* has a quick sixty second video on the subject, where it shows quite explicitly that we’re heading for a total health disaster when the summer games begin in August.

They added that $184 million that was set aside to deal with this situation has yet to be used, and that 13 members of the U.S. rowing team got sick doing test runs in the surrounding water last year. While other Brazilian cities have treated their sewage, Rio isn’t planning on doing that until 2035.
