New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is no longer endorsing Donald Trump.
From Politico:
Asked whether he thought his remarks from earlier this month constituted an endorsement, Brady said that he has known Trump for a long time and that he has "been a fun guy that I’ve had a lot of time around."
"The fact that he’s running has obviously led to a lot of stories and debates and ratings were huge for all those Republican debates and so forth," he said. “One way or another, it’s so far away from when the election will be."
Brady, whose Patriots are undefeated and coming off a blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, apparently has more pressing issues in mind than the prospect of a Trump presidency.
"Whatever I vote is going to be my own personal choice based on how I feel. I don’t even know what the issues are. I haven’t paid attention to politics in a long time. It’s actually not something that I really even enjoy. It’s way off my radar," he added.
Brady appeared to endorse Trump in mid-September. On Friday, Sports Illustrated published a piece essentially condemning Brady for the endorsement.
The Patriots are 3-0 so far, and Brady recently became just the fourth quarterback ever to throw for 400 touchdowns.
