Bill Clinton: We Can't Just Have People Walking Around With Guns, You Know

Former President Bill Clinton and potential First Man as husband of Hillary Clinton is blaming the increase of violence in cities across the country like Baltimore and New York on people "walking around with guns." Clinton did so during an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper over the weekend.

Clinton: The Baltimore thing came on the heels of what happened in Ferguson, what happened in New York City and all these other places. And there is a big national movement about whether the lives of young African-American men count.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper: Black Lives Matter, yeah.

Clinton: Yeah. You can't have a bunch of people walking around with guns. I used to tell people when we did Bosnia, Kosovo, anything like that: You get enough people with weapons around, and there will be unintended consequences. People make mistakes. People do wrong. Things happen.

First off,  the cities where we've seen a significant increase in violent crime - Baltimore, New York City, Chicago, Ferguson, etc. - already have the strictest gun control laws in the country. The only people "walking around with guns" are criminals and thanks to progressives like NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio, police are no longer allowed to search suspects for weapons, better known as stop-and-frisk. Clinton should rephrase his remarks to reflect the facts: When you get enough criminals with weapons around, they tend to do bad things. Not to mention, criminals aren't "making mistakes" with guns as Clinton said, they're deliberately carrying out crimes with guns, which is illegal. Meanwhile, the law abiding citizens no longer have the aggressive policing they need and the government has taken away their ability to defend themselves.

Second, this is a good time to remind everyone about the extreme anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment mentality of the Clinton's that will certainly be pushed into policy should Hillary become president in 2016.
