This week I'm in sunny Las Vegas reporting from the SHOT Show, a gigantic shooting and outdoor convention put on every year by the National Shooting Sports Foundation in the Venetian Hotel Sans Expo and Convention Center. The SHOT Show was started in 1979 and has exploded into the industry's biggest event 35 years later. We're talking about 12.5 miles of aisles, 630,000 square feet or 10.9 football fields of exhibit space, hundreds of booths, tens-of-thousands of attendees, millions of dollars worth of products and more. Everything you can possibly think of is here.
Take a look at the numbers below from NSSF as the week gets started. The positive economic impact of the shooting industry is hardly, if ever, mentioned in the mainstream press. The industry plays a crucial role in our communities across the country through job production, local economic stimulus and in providing the government with solid tax revenue. The SHOT Show is a great way to see this impact all in one place. I'll be here all week (I'm glad I brought comfortable shoes, I only have 22 seconds to visit every booth).
