90 Percent of Top Hill Aides Worried About Their Benefits Under Obamacare

As the number of staffers on Capitol Hill should roughly be split in party allegiance, you might think that half of them love Obamacare. Well, it seems that this isn’t true. In a new survey put out by the Congressional Management Foundation 90% of staffers said they are worried about benefit changes under the new health care law.

Hmmm. Maybe Democrats are changing their tunes on Obamacare? The survey also found that 86% are anxious about the financial hit from the Affordable Care Act, while 79% also cited worries about access under the new rules. Obviously many of these staffers have bosses that are not concerned about their employees’ concerns.

Democrats continue to push Obamacare and praise it, even though their own staffers are worried about it. Perhaps it’s time for them to work on reassuring their employees before going in front of the cameras to boost the law’s image. And what’s even more concerning is that only 35% of staffers actually felt they had a “good understanding” of the changes to their health care plans under Obamacare.

Most staffers were required to enroll in the exchanges instead of staying on the federal health care plan. How is it that the people who are supposed to be best informed about the Affordable Care Act are still confused about it? Gee, maybe it was too soon to try and implement this law? And it probably doesn’t help that the President lied about what the law was and what would be allowed with Obamacare.

Conclusion: If Hill staffers can’t even be sure of what the law means and are worried about how it will affect their benefits, this isn’t working.
