Following a destructive government shutdown and the mess that is the Obamacare rollout, it is no surprise to see Americans split on who they side with more politically. The partisan gap in this country is clearly getting larger, but a recent Rasmussen poll found just how large of a gap it really is.
The new report out from Rasmussen finds that 42% of likely voters say their political beliefs line up closest to those of the President. But just as many respondents said their ideologies lined up with the average member of the Tea Party. Mind you there were also 16% who said they were unsure.
These levels are not quite as high as they were in 2010 when the Tea Party changed the landscape of the House, but it’s still rather impressive. But still more people seem to agree with the Tea Party than they do with their members of Congress.
With the Tea Party having such a large role in what happened during the government shutdown, it is a bit surprising to see their support still so high, as many believed it was their fault for the gridlock. What was interesting about this study was that more people seemed to think that the Tea Party movement was bad for the country. But why then are they siding with them?
If we can draw any type of conclusions from this study, it is that clearly Americans are a bit undecided right now. After such a huge battle between the two sides, it seems like many are stuck in the middle.
