Conservative Women Work to Bridge Gap Between the Republican Party and Female Voters

This weekend, Palladian View will be hosting their 3rd Annual Bridging the Gap Women’s Summit in Charleston, SC.

This intimate, innovative and informative women’s summit will spotlight some of the country’s most influential conservative leaders including Ann Coulter, Star Parker and Congresswomen Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Renee Ellmers (R-NC) and many more!

Over the past decade, the Democratic Party has achieved electoral success by painting the GOP as ‘anti-woman.’ Case and point: in 2012, President Obama won 58% of the women’s vote between ages 18-49. Former Chairwoman of the South Carolina Republican Party and host of this year’s summit, Karen Floyd, voiced the problem with many women’s perceptions of the Republican Party:

The perception that the GOP is “anti-woman” is a recent phenomenon evidenced in this past presidential election, when large numbers of women were persuaded that the GOP wanted to ban birth control, even though no Republican candidate supported such a policy.

The messaging worked particularly well with single women under the age of 35, resulting in widespread disenchantment of the GOP driving women away from Mitt Romney and other candidates of the GOP.

The summit is geared towards educating and empowering conservative women who hope to turn the women’s vote back in favor of the Republican Party. The attendees will aim to answer the tough questions that stand between the party and female voters, especially those under the age of 35:

Where is the Party of Abraham Lincoln and Susan B. Anthony that once stood for equality, values and opportunity for all? As Republican women leaders, how do we engage and energize other women? What are the policies that matter most to women and how do we address those issues with messaging that builds our Party, grows our ranks as Republican women elected officials and significantly impacts elections?

A lot of big questions to answer in two days; but if anyone can take on a challenge like that and thrive, it’s empowered, conservative women.

The 2013 Bridging the Gap Women’s Summit will be hosted at the Memminger Auditorium in Charleston, South Carolina, August 23-24th.
