Romney Endorses McCain in Re-Election Bid

Color me angry.  Former Massachusetts Governor and presidential contender Mitt Romney is endorsing Sen. John McCain in his bid to keep his Senate seat.  Romney said in a statement today that McCain's "record of service and sacrifice for America is honored by all... It's hard to imagine the U.S. Senate without John McCain."

I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in saying I really wouldn't mind seeing McCain retire this year.  As his declared opponent, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, declared, it's time for McCain to go home.  He has been in Washington for more than two decades--reason enough for conservatives to push for retirement.  But on top of that, McCain is a progressive Republican who only stands to further damage the conservative Republican brand with concessions to the Left on key issues.

I'm pretty tired of the pat-on-the-back politics going on here.  On the one hand, you have people like former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Romney talking about how important it is for a resurgence in traditional conservative values, yet they vocally support one of the party's more liberal members?

This kind of double-talk is especially disturbing coming from some of the most prominent figures of the GOP.
