Martha Coakley: Curt Schilling Is A Yankees Fan

Martha Coakley steps in it again.  In a radio interview on "Nightside With Dan Rea," Coakley tries to downplay former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani's support for her opponent, Scott Brown, by pointing out that Giuliani is a Yankees fan.  When the host points out that Curt Schilling  is also supporting Brown, she claims Schilling is just another fan of the Yankees as well.

Apparently unbeknownst to Coakley, Schilling was a star pitcher for Boston's Red Sox--a former job that I'm pretty sure disqualifies him as a Yankees fan.  Whoops.

Now obviously Coakley's knowledge of baseball doesn't make her more or less qualified for the job, but I love how, like a true politician, she tries to recover from her massive gaffe by claiming Schilling is "not [with the Sox] anymore," implying she is, in fact, correct in asserting he's a fan of the NY Yankees.

Priceless.
