ICYMI: Gov. Cuomo Pardoned An Illegal The Same Week One Was Charged With Mollie Tibbetts' Murder

Last week, the body of Mollie Tibbetts, the college student missing for nearly a month from Brooklyn, Iowa, was found. An illegal alien, Cristhian Bahena Rivera, a Mexican national, has been charged with her murder. Mr. Rivera has been living illegally in the U.S. for nearly a decade. The case has sparked once again another debate over illegal immigration, border enforcement, and Democratic indifference to families impacted by illegal alien crime. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) pretty much said that while it’s sad that Tibbetts was murdered, the real problem is illegals at the border being separated from their kids. It was a rather cold response, but par for the course for a political party that cares more about illegal aliens than American citizens. The reason is simple: they want the votes. Symone Sanders, the former top Bernie Sanders 2016 staffer, said this wasn’t about immigration, but toxic masculinity. So, screw American families, also masculinity is to blame for Tibbett’s murder. Yeah, sounds like great PR messaging there. To further muddy the optics, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo decided to pardon another illegal who was slated to be deported in the same week Tibbett’s body was discovered. The individual was arrested and convicted of drug dealing, but the governor’s office says he has no family in his home country of the Dominican Republic (via NY Post):

Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued yet another pardon to an undocumented immigrant with a criminal conviction ahead of his deportation hearing Tuesday.

Harveys Gomez, 39, a Bronx resident and Dominican Republic native, is the latest immigrant to be granted clemency by Cuomo.

Gomez was convicted of criminal sale of a controlled substance nearly a decade ago and has been in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement since October, despite having completed probation, according to Cuomo’s office.

Cuomo’s office says Gomez came to the US when he was 8 years old, is openly gay and HIV-positive, is a survivor of childhood sex abuse and “has no family in the Dominican Republic who would be able to support him if deported.”

Sad story, yes—but he still broke the law. You come here illegally, deal drugs, and get convicted of it. Sorry, you’re out of here. And that’s the point. It’s not really the drug charge or any crime committed by illegals that’s the point. It’s that they broke the law in the first place. Yeah, these crimes add to the case that they should be booted, but it gets back to enforcing the law. That’s the core of the matter. Tibbetts and other victims of illegal alien homicides would obviously still be alive if these individual hadn’t been here in the first place, if we have an immigration system that was reformed and stricter. Yes, there are some who think more illegals equals more crime. Yes, an American citizen could have murdered Ms. Tibbetts. I’m not a fan of that talking point either, but when you bring up the fact, and it’s a simple one, that Tibbetts and other families might have been spared this tragedy, liberals automatically think you’re blowing a dog whistle. Maybe that’s why there’s no movement on this issue, but you there is one thing that would improve chances of having a better immigration system: don’t vote for the Democrats. As for Cuomo, well, it must be nice living in a deep blue state and not being held accountable for pardoning illegals and saying that America has always sucked as a nation. What a leader we got here, but also someone who, luckily, will never be elected president of the United States.
