Clinton's Lead Over Trump Slips in Latest Poll

FBI Director James Comey recommended that no criminal charges be brought against Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email system last Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean it was the best week for the former secretary of state. Comey exposed many of her claims as lies and Republicans have continued to keep the issue in the limelight.

Now, it seems to be affecting her poll numbers.

According to an NBC News/Survey Monkey poll released Tuesday, Clinton leads Trump by 3 percentage points, 47 percent to 44 percent. Last week, she led by 5 points in the same poll.

NBC News/Survey Monkey conducted its latest sampling of 7,869 adults who say they are registered to vote via online interviews from July 4-10. It has a 1.4 percent margin of error.

According to the RealClearPolitics average, Clinton leads Trump by 4.5 points nationwide.
