New Book Breaks Down The Root of All Failure: Our Inner Hippie

New Book Breaks Down The Root of All Failure: Our Inner Hippie

It's a self-help book unlike any other. It's main purpose: to get you to silence that little voice inside of you that whines and justifies mediocre performance (aka: laziness).

You have one. I have one. We all have one.

Frank J. Fleming is the author of "Punch Your Inner Hippie: Cut Your Hair, Get a Job, and Make America Awesome Again." Fleming breaks down why he believes the hippie mentality is the decay of society and how the inner-hippie in all of us needs to be punched...daily.

Townhall spoke with Fleming on his new book and how hippies are plaguing our society today.

How is "Punch Your Inner Hippie" a self-help book?

It's the definitive self-help book. I actually get to the root of all failure, which is hippies. This is what causes the failure inside of us, the whiney, hippie who is lazy and doesn't want to achieve things. Nothing is stopping us if we can overcome our inner hippie.

Explain what you believe to be hippie behavior:

Hippies are basically the nadir of human society. They exist to drag down everybody else. They whine, they expect to be handed everything and if you let them overtake you it will pull down all society. But if you can overcome them there is nothing stopping you from achieving anything.

In your book you say, "hippies are the bane of civilization" and have been for centuries. How do you see the hippie-mentality prevalent now?

A lot of people associated hippies with the 1960s, but they are prevalent throughout human history and the cause of the collapse of most civilizations...You don't have the ones in tie-die and stuff that you can spot them as easily. There's a lot of people out there, they're whining, they're expecting things to be handed to them. That's the root of our problems today and that is what we have to overcome. That hippie-ness has overtaken all of us. Instead of punching external hippies, we need to focus on the hippie inside of us dragging down each one of us.

Does the way you define "hippie" synonymous with today's liberal Democrat?

There's a lot of overlap. Anybody can be a hippie. The liberal Democrat seems to really pull into that. They're always like, "Hey, let's hand out things. Free stuff! You don't have to work for things. You don't have to worry about anything. You don't have to be independent." They foster a lot of the hippieness inside all of us. Government is a big part of that too. It gets in the way of individuals achieving all they can.

"Awesomeness" is explained throughout your book. Is that what you want people to take a way? To be awesome?

Awesomeness is how you punch your inner hippie and that is the best a human can achieve. I outline how to build inside of you an unstoppable tank of awesome by the four principles of awesomeness: Independence is the tread of your tank, you can rollover anything. Gratitude is the armor of your tank, no matter what happens you don't give up. Ambition is the fuel of the tank, keeps you moving forward. And confidence is the canon in your tank that blows out anything in your way.

"Punch Your Inner Hippie" is on sale this Tuesday.

Frank J. Fleming is the author of "Obama: The Greatest President in the History of Everything and How to Fix Everything In America Forever." He currently lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and children and is as a electrical and software engineer when he's not writing.
