President Trump announced Friday evening the Centers for Disease Control now recommends Americans cover their face in public and continue the practice of social distancing. He did not recommend individuals wear medical-grade masks and stressed they must be reserved for frontline medical workers.

“The CDC is advising the use of non-medical cloth face covering as an additional voluntary public health measure,” President Trump said.

For weeks, members of the Wuhan coronavirus task force, including Surgeon General Jerome Adams and Dr. Anthony Fauci, have repeatedly told the general public masks and face coverings do not protect or help stop the spread of the disease. At the same time, they argued masks protect doctors from the virus.

Masks and facial coverings, with different degrees of effectiveness, generally work to protect medical personnel and individuals from airborne threats. A number of studies have proven this.

Over to you, Tucker Carlson.

Of course, masks work. Everyone knows that. Dozens of research papers have proved it. In South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, the rest of Asia where coronavirus has been kept under control, masks were key.

So look, we understand there's a shortage of masks. We understand only certain people should get them because it's a triage moment. We get it.

But stop lying to us. It makes us cynical. It divides the country. Tell the truth. We can handle it.
