Congressman Forbes: Details of Iran's Capture of US Sailors Will Shock American People

Republican Randy Forbes of Virginia said on Tuesday that the American public will be shocked to learn the secret details behind the capture of 10 American sailors by Iranian forces earlier this year.

"I think what they will find is that this was done totally against international and maritime law," Forbes told Fox News.  "I think they will find the whole situation of how we responded during that incident and around that situation I think to be both shocking and appalling when they get all of the details out."

Forbes reiterated claims he made to a reporter on Monday.

“I think that when the details actually come out, most Americans are going to be kind of taken aback by the entire incident,” Forbes told The Washington Free Beacon.  “We did almost nothing in response. In fact, to have Secretary Kerry actually thank them for releasing our sailors after the way they captured them, I think was a slap in the sailors’ face.”

Forbes has received classified information on the matter and warned that it could be over a year before the American people really know what happened that fateful day in the Persian Gulf earlier this year.
