Outrageous Votes In The Senate

Readers might need to be reminded that my latest story is indeed written for Townhall.com, and not The Onion joke news network.
"Democrats Subsidize Prescription-Strength Sex-Enhancement Medication For Child Rapists."

Something this outrageous simply can't be made up. Democrats affirmed their support for subsidizing sex offenders' Viagra prescriptions in a firm up-or-down vote last night, along with their support for taxing children's and wounded veterans' prosthetic limbs.

Democratic Senators also voted to affirm an exemption for their Congressional staff from having to buy insurance from the federally-regulated insurance exchange. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), was one of the 41 Republicans who voted against that exemption. Here's his spokesman, Stephen Boyd:
Democrats claim that the so-called exchanges created in the health care bill will lower premiums and increase quality. So, it’s curious that some of the very same people who were meeting behind closed doors to write those provisions carved out an exception for themselves. This is just another example in a long line of special deals, gimmicks, and favors written into a massive bill.
Critics, of course, say that these votes were meaningless political ploys, offered by Republicans to make Democrats look bad. But these amendments were legitimate revisions to the bill. If enacted, they would have had actually altered current legislation from the way it currently stands.
