John Kerry Defends Paris Accord By Invoking...O.J. Simpson

Former Secretary of State John Kerry made an unusual analogy this weekend as he attempted to defend the Paris climate accord President Trump just spurned. Speaking with Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” Kerry doubted that Trump could find a better deal than the one from which he just withdrew.

So, he compared the situation to the infamous O.J. Simpson trial.

“He’s going to go out and find a better deal?” Kerry asked. “That’s like O.J. Simpson saying he is going to go out and find the real killer. Everybody knows he isn’t going to do that because he doesn’t believe in it.”

It’s quite a leap for the former secretary of state to make, but it's not the strangest argument Paris deal defenders have used. Many environmental activists have been predicting doom for the world if we walk away from the agreement. California Gov. Jerry Brown is so concerned about the looming "disaster" that he flew to China to sign a new agreement, pledging to reduce carbon emissions.

Former Vice President Al Gore was in a league of his own, though, when he suggested that today’s climate trends are something out of "the Book of Revelation."

He had to admit to Fox News’s Chris Wallace, however, that the Paris deal would not stop global warming.

But it would send a message!

After weeks of consideration, President Trump decided to pull the U.S. out of the Paris accord because it would have a punishing effect on our economy.

"We will be environmentally friendly, but we're not going to put our businesses out of work," Trump said at the time.
