Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) did not mince words - or letters - when he remarked on Bashar al-Assad's flippant attitude toward President Trump on Sunday's "Meet the Press." Trump ordered an airstrike on the Syrian airfield believed to be the source of last week's chemical attack. Yet, in a show of defiance, Assad is reportedly already allowing flights to take off from the same airbase.
Graham had a simple response for the Syrian dictator: "F U."

Host Chuck Todd noted that was a "first" on the show.
Graham may have been blunt, but his sentiment is shared by several of his colleagues and many Americans who are frustrated by the Assad regime's merciless chemical attacks. They are just as frustrated by the last administration's lack of response. President Obama warned Assad not to cross the "red line." Yet, when Assad did just that, Obama backtracked.
Graham, who has mentioned many times that he did not vote for Trump in November, is applauding him for not following in the footsteps of his predecessor.
“I’ve never been more encouraged by the Trump administration than I am today," the senator said.
So too, are many Syrian survivors. Kassem Eid, who survived the 2013 chemical attack in Syria, told CNN he cried tears of joy the morning after the airstrike and is now urging Trump to do even more.
As Graham noted, "There's a new sheriff in town."
