By way of comparison, President Bush attended 86 fundraisers over the entire course of his reelection campaign.

The left would like to blame this phenomenon on Citizens United. But as Karl Rove pointed out back in March, there have been plenty of indicia that the President's fundraising wasn't going to be all it was touted to be; from the paltry $3 appeals to the lotteries for dinner at George Clooney's house, this isn't the glossy, easy-come money machine of 2008.
Ultimately, the President's problems are attributable to no one but himself. With nary a success to celebrate, a low campaign relying on scurrilous charges and an increasingly angry and unpresidential figure at the head of the ticket, it's no surprise that simply staying afloat in the money race is forcing President Obama to neglect the job the country elected him to do.
