The Consensus Candidate?

According to Gallup, Mitt Romney is the only Republican presidential candidate that a majority of Republicans view as an acceptable nominee.  Remarkably, more conservatives see Romney as an acceptable nominee (59%) than they do Gingrich (51%) or Santorum (50%).  Fewer than half of conservatives deem Perry, Paul or Huntsman acceptable.

What's interesting is that this poll was taken from January 5-8, before Gingrich and Perry's repulsive embrace of Occupy Wall Street rhetoric (Santorum, to his credit, refused to join in.)  I would bet that Gingrich and Perry's numbers are falling quicklly among conservatives who aren't willing to hear free enterprise demonized in the interest of two struggling candidates' ambition.
