Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday grilled Google UX Director Maggie Stanphill about Project Veritas' recent investigation into the tech company's desire to stifle conservatives. A whistleblower stepped forward to make people aware of Google's plans to affect the outcome of the 2020 elections and “prevent” the next “Trump situation.”

The video features Google's Head of Responsible Innovation, Jen Gennai, talking about those very moves. According to Project Veritas, Gennai's department "monitors and evaluates the responsible implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies."

“Elizabeth Warren is saying we should break up Google. And like, I love her but she’s very misguided, like that will not make it better, it will make it worse, because all these smaller companies who don’t have the same resources that we do will be charged with preventing the next Trump situation. It’s like a small company cannot do that," Gennai said in undercover footage.

"We all got screwed over in 2016. Again it wasn’t just us. It was the people got screwed over, the news media got screwed over, like, everybody got screwed over so we’re rapidly been like, what happened there and how do we prevent it from happening again?" Gennai asked. “We’re also training our algorithms, like, if 2016 happened again, would we have, would the outcome be different?”

What's amazing is that during Cruz's testimony, Stanphill said she "heard about" Veritas' investigation but she's been "too busy" to review it.

"Are you familiar with a report that was released yesterday from [Project] Veritas that included a whistleblower from within Google that included videos from a senior executive at Google that included documents that are reportedly internal PowerPoint documents from Google?" Cruz asked.

"Yes, I heard about that report in industry news," Stanphill replied.

"Have you seen the report?" Cruz asked.

"No, I have not," Stanphill replied.

"So you didn't review the report to prepare for this hearing?" Cruz asked.

"It's been a busy day and I have a day job, which is digital well-being at Google, so I'm trying to make sure I keep the trains on the track," Stanphill replied in a rather snarky tone.

"Well, I'm sorry this hearing is infringing on your day job," Cruz replied sarcastically.

"It's a great opportunity. Thank you," Stanphill said.

Cruz asked if Stanphill thought it was Google's job to make sure "someone like Donald Trump never comes to power again."

"No, sir, I don't think that's Google's job and we build for everyone, including every single religious belief, every single demographic, every single region and certainly every political affiliation," Stanphill explained.

It was evident she struggled with the question. On one hand, she can't come out and say she supports suppressing half the country and their political beliefs. That would look terrible. But, on the other hand, she can't completely dismiss what was said either. There's video evidence of Gennai saying what she did. Plus, even more whistleblowers are stepping forward. Guess casting out half the country also means you alienate some of your own employees. Not a good thing by any means.

When Stanphill said she didn't review the evidence, it's pretty fair to say she's a liar. This is public relations nightmare for Google. You know everyone at the company – and most people across the country – viewed the video evidence. If Google had nothing to worry about and they weren't trying to cover their tracks, they wouldn't have pulled down Project Veritas' video off YouTube, which the big tech company also owns.

Conservatives aren't stupid. We know our content is being suppressed. We know our thoughts and values threaten the Left's agenda. If it wasn't, they wouldn't feel the need to keep us from spreading our message. And Democrats need to wake up. They should be upset by this. You know why? Because if it happens to us it can also happen to them.
