Adam Schiff: Second Amendment Became a Hot Topic Because of the Russians

Democrats are always loud and proud about their anti-gun views. In fact, if they don't call for gun control once every few months, many of their supporters start foaming at the mouth and questioning where they stand on "gun violence.”

But what these Democrats fail to understand is that being pro-gun isn't just a mindset. It's a way of life. Take for example Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA)...

The Big Blunder

Schiff seems to have a pretty warped idea about our Second Amendment, which he displayed during an event in Pennsylvania this month.

According to Schiff, gun rights advocates were vocal during the 2016 election...because of Russians.

In his rant, Schiff says Russians were continually posting content on Facebook and other social media sites that were designed to pit Americans against one another.

They also trumpeted the Second Amendment. Apparently, the Russians are very big fans of our Second Amendment. They don’t particularly want a Second Amendment of their own, but they’re really glad that we have one. The Russians would be thrilled if we were doing nothing but killing each other every day, and sadly we are.

Um, what?

Your analysis is pretty off, Mr. Schiff. So here, let me break it down for you.

Why the Second Amendment Was Pivotal in 2016

The Second Amendment was a huge issue during the 2016 elections because of Hillary Clinton. Gun owners across the nation knew that if we sat back and allowed Hillary to win, our Second Amendment rights would be in jeopardy.

Just look at the buying patterns that took place leading up to the 2016 election. Law-abiding gun owners were buying firearms en masse because they feared a Clinton presidency. People were genuinely worried that, if she won the White House, significant limits would be placed on our right to bear arms.

Russians had nothing to do with the tensions that took place in our country. The Russians had nothing to do with the gun control debate. The debate that took place that election cycle - and is still going on today - has everything to do with what direction Americans think our country can and should go in.

You see, Mr. Schiff, gun owners own firearms for a number of reasons. There's...

THE HUNTER

Some enjoy hunting and do it as a hobby. Others rely on their hunting abilities to feed their families, especially during the long winter months.

THE HOBBYIST

There are gun owners who own firearms because they enjoy going to the range and target shooting. Others enjoy competition shooting. And some are simply collectors.

SELF-DEFENSE

For others, like myself, owning and carrying a firearm is about our ability to protect and defend ourselves. I've been in an instance where I had to rely on someone else to protect me, and guess what? It didn't work. My cries and rape whistle didn't stop my attacker.

Schiff, the next time you want to make an idiotic remark about the Second Amendment and its supporters, why don't you talk to us? We'll school you before you make even more of a mockery out of yourself.
