For years now, I have been sounding the alarm about the government takeover of our most important industries. The Left already has an ideological capture on education and entertainment, after all. They're slowly strangling the justice system (as I wrote about here), and they desperately want to take over our grocery stores and our healthcare.

None of this is rooted in altruism.

Let me repeat that: none of this is rooted in altruism.

It is all about control, and about the Left having the ability to not only control vast swaths of the population, but to punish their ideological opponents, too. It seems that every week or so I get to add another bit of evidence to my file. There was Abdul El-Sayed — Mr. Medicare for All — who, back in 2012, was lamenting breast cancer research funding because the women who get breast cancer have "social power" and "privilege."

When you see the world through a political lens of "oppressor" vs. "oppressed" — and believe it's your job as a politician to right those wrongs — there is no other avenue down which society can go if we elect these people. In North Carolina, then-Gov. Ralph Northam created an equity task force to address the fact that blacks and other minorities commit the most violent crimes. Not to end the crime, of course, but to strike sweetheart deals with cold-blooded murderers like Saul Lopez Perez, an illegal alien who murdered a 16-year-old boy. Thanks to Cooper, Perez was not charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Instead, the charges were reduced to just voluntary manslaughter, and Perez will only serve 51 to 74 months in prison.

If that.

Now imagine that policy in every facet of our lives, including our grocery stores and our hospitals and clinics. That's the end-game here, and this lawsuit in Brooklyn shows exactly how the Left will treat its enemies while rewarding its friends. The Brooklyn Park Slope Food Co-op was just hit with a discrimination suit over its "rampant antisemitism."

Here's more:

Tuesday's lawsuit—filed by the National Jewish Advocacy Center on behalf of five Jewish co-op members—maintains the co-op's leadership wrongly altered longstanding practices to facilitate the boycott's passage and that Jewish members who spoke out against the process were met with antisemitic harassment.

"The Boycott's proponents," the lawsuit reveals through text messages and other communications, "repeatedly singled out 'Zionists,' Jewish Members, and persons with ties to Israel for criticism and exclusion." A secure chat on the encrypted messaging app Signal, for instance, included calls by the "Members for Palestine," or M4P, to oppose "the co-op Zionists" and push for "the demolition of the zionist entity's invincibility." The suit was filed in the state's Kings County Supreme Court and requests "declaratory, injunctive, equitable, and monetary relief" of at least $150,000 for both the harassment campaign and unjust changes to the co-op's voting process.

What's key here is that this co-op is located in the middle of Brooklyn's "Commie Corridor" that helped get Zohran Mamdani elected and drove other Democratic Socialists like Brad Lander and Claire Valdez to win their primaries.

The co-op is the epitome of socialism, where members have to work a shift in order to shop there, and according to the Washington Free Beacon, there are "elaborate rules governing shopping eligibility and work-shift requirements."

And the discrimination runs wild, with no fear of repercussions. Now imagine what happens when the same people running this co-op run every grocery store. You would be harassed for being a Jew, being a Christian, being a heterosexual white man or woman. This would happen with purely-government run housing, too. They will dictate who can and cannot shop there. Extrapolate that out to healthcare, and they'll pick the winners and losers there, too.

Do you think a guy like Abdul El-Sayed would approve cancer treatments for me? No. I would be told to go on hospice or, better yet, take government-assisted suicide to save taxpayers the burden of paying for my care. Do you think the Left would allow me to rent an apartment, send my children to school, or put food on the table? No.

Mass intentional starvation and deprivation of rights were key to communist regimes like those run by Mao, whom many Democratic Socialists of America love, and whom Democrat darling Hasan Piker idolizes and emulates. They call healthcare, housing, education, and food a "right" so they can take control and then use those "rights" as political cudgels. They did it with education during COVID — it was a right up until the teachers' unions decided it wasn't — and we have no reason to believe they wouldn't do the same thing with housing, healthcare, and even food.

The Left is telegraphing, quite openly, what they'd do if they regained power. It is our moral obligation to make sure that doesn't happen.
