Felicity Huffman Pleads Guilty to College Cheating

"Desperate Housewives" actress Felicity Huffman pleaded guilty in a Boston courthouse Monday to shelling out $15,000 to correct her daughter's SAT scores in 2017 before eventually deciding against the plan. Huffman's sentencing is expected in 3 to 4 months' time and prosecutors want her to face 4 to 10 months in prison.

Reporters in the courtroom say the actress broke down in tears while giving her statement.

Last month she released an apology for her actions while first making it clear that her daughter had nothing to do with it.

"I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions," Huffman said in a statement obtained by Fox News. "I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community. I want to apologize to them and, especially, I want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly."

"My daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions," the statement continues, "and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way, I have betrayed her. This transgression toward her and the public I will carry for the rest of my life. My desire to help my daughter is no excuse to break the law or engage in dishonesty."

Huffman's response to the college cheating scandal is miles away from that of "Full House" star Lori Loughlin. Loughlin is accused of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to get her daughters into the University of Southern California, as well as mail fraud and money laundering. Instead of pleading guilty, Loughlin and her husband presumed their innocence with a not guilty plea last month, and Loughlin has even been spotted smiling and taking photos outside of the courthouse.

Dozens of other parents, none quite as familiar as these two actresses, have been caught up in the scandal as well. And there may be plenty more where they came from.
