Reporting On The Mirror – CBS NEWS

  • Bad news for those rooting for the demise of the show they claim to love.

With all the soap-opera hysterics this week over the firing of Scott Pelley, there has been an odd paradox among those claiming this represents the demise of journalism, free speech, and democracy as we know it. It has been an odd reality that many of those who claim to love the institution of “60 Minutes” are, at the same time, so angered by Bari Weiss that they are calling for a boycott of CBS entirely, effectively rooting for the demise of the program.

Well, these drama kings and queens are in for disappointment, as one result they had been cheering for has been dashed. In a letter, the remaining correspondents — Leslie Stahl, Bill Whitaker, and Jon Wertheim — have announced that they will remain on staff for the sake of the integrity of the program.

Both Kinds Of Standards – CNN

  • There is no better example of how hollow their accusations have been.

On CNN, Jake Tapper was interviewing the Cajun Raisin, James Carville, and the discussion turned to Graham Platner. Tapper actually managed to ask JCV about the defenses of Der Oysterfuhrer from Democrats and asked him if the reaction would be different had it been a Republican found with a Nazi death camp tattoo.

Amazingly, Carville admitted that Democrats would not be suggesting being open-minded about the past of a GOPer in that instance.

Democratic Custodial Services – MS NOW

  • Mr. Hayes provided all of the opportunity to scrub the latest scandal.

In dutiful fashion, in the wake of the latest scandal to drop onto Graham Platner, Chris Hayes brought on Der Oysterfuhrer to respond to any new and old accusations.

It may sound at first like Hayes was pressing the Maine candidate, but in reality, it was the host tabling each issue and then getting out of the way to allow Platner to explain away the controversies. Note the lack of follow-up questions and sitting content with the responses; it sounds like it was all scripted prior in the green room to allow for any and all spin to be presented.

Pre-written Field Reports – CNN

  • Once again, enforcing the law is “weaponization”.

Fresh off being shamed in the Oval Office, Kaitlan Collins was on the attack, this time with U.S. Republican Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17), but she was not prepared for him to know what he was talking about.

She was speaking the same subject that the president had lambasted her over, the anti-weaponization fund, and while she thought she prepared for a gotcha moment, Lawler brought facts to show she did not, in fact, get him.

After the representative mentioned the weaponization at the heart of the issue was taking place under Biden’s watch, Kaitlan came back to cite how the DOJ at the time had gone after Hunter Biden. After she thought she disqualified the comment, (“He was prosecuted, of course, by his dad's own Justice Department,) Lawler came back with simple facts: “Yes, for crimes that he committed, Kaitlan. The Justice Department was not weaponized against Hunter Biden.”

News Avoidance Syndrome — CBS NEWS

  • It appears to be offensive to refer to the man using his own screen name.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) continues to be a rare voice of sanity in the Democrat Party in this age of Graham Platner. The Pennsylvania senator has made his opposition to Der Oysterfuhrer quite clear, and this seems to bother not just some fellow Dems, but also a significant number of members of the press.

Fetterman entertained a press gaggle outside the Capitol and in discussing the candidate from Maine he referred to Platner as “P-Hustle”. One reporter — Caitlyn Huey-Burns, of CBS News — seems slightly perturbed to hear Fetterman use that signifier.

That Huey-Burns seems to be unaware that Platner used that very screenname is a horrible look for a reporter covering this very beat. She was, after all, the one who opened with questions on Platner and how Democrats would handle his issues, so for her to sound like Fetterman was the one creating that name is a revealing dose of ignorance.
