The Democrats’ Malice and/or Stupidity Is Real, Not Staged

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Yet again, Democrat behavior raises the eternal question – are they stupid or are they evil? The current issue is the notion that the assassination attempts against Donald Trump, which have already killed one man and injured several others, were somehow staged. That’s a popular contention among Democrats—somewhere around 46 percent of Democrats polled believed that the murder and murder attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, was staged by Trump supporters to increase sympathy for him. Yes, you read that right – 46 percent. So, the answer to the eternal question is, of course, yes.

They are both stupid and evil.

Now, do they really believe this nonsense? They certainly want to believe it. It’s not so much that they don’t want it to be true that the kind of incel freaks who tried to cap the commander-in-chief share their views identically. If you read the latest goober’s manifesto, it is absolutely indistinguishable from the dialogue at a typical MS NOW panel discussion. There’s no difference at all. Maybe the problem is this guy took it seriously instead of as performance art—he was stupid, while the people instructing him were evil because they knew everything they said was a lie. What they are concerned about is being held accountable by voters for wanting it to be true.

In other words, they think that right now, with an election approaching, normal Americans are going to look askance at people praying for the death of their political opponents. That doesn’t mean they’re not going to pray to the angry pagan weather goddess that they worship for some kind of blood sacrifice. They certainly are. It’s indisputable that they want Donald Trump, Trump officials, and you and me to die. That would be super convenient for them because, when they actually have to compete against us and place their idiotic and malignant policies against ours, they lose. So, why not avoid competition at all? Just kill the kulaks. That’s been the communist go-to for the last century or so. From the Bolshevik Revolution through Mao’s murderous slaughters to Cuba and Cambodia and everywhere else that the communists have taken control, the easiest way to deal with an opposition that you can’t beat intellectually is to beat them to death, or shoot them, or whatever. After all, when it comes to ways of slaughtering opponents, communists embrace diversity.

Still, they believe it’s in their interest to claim these murder attempts by leftists are a giant okey-doke. It’s the ultimate DARVO—deny, attack, reverse victim and offender. They deny that one of their own tried to murder Trump. Then they attack Trump et al. for cunningly planning these multiple attacks, making the leftists the real victims. This, of course, requires ignoring the real real victims. Corey Comperatore? Who cares? He liked Trump anyway. He was, uh, probably sacrificed—yeah, that’s the ticket. It’s really sick.

And it’s really dumb, even when the smart ones try it. They don’t just ignore the casualties. They ignore the manifest facts and expect you to do the same. The testimony of reporters like Salena Zito, who was literally a few feet away when the bullets started flying? Nah, she’s in on it. Or something—hey, look, Trump’s a racist!

It would be embarrassing if they had shame genes. We’ve got earlobe truthers now, people who insist with a straight face that their personal research into the photographs of Trump before and after demonstrates that he was never nicked by the bullet. Oh, wait, was there even a bullet or not? I mean, people did get shot. Trump, as part of his massive conspiracy, decided to put himself out there in the open and have somebody shoot past him? The ones who accept that he was nicked think he was nicked on purpose. The others believe the shooter missed on purpose. That would be the shooter groomed into hating Trump and wanting him dead; seems pretty risky for Trump. You could get a real headache trying to figure it out, but it doesn’t matter because it’s not meant to be figured out. It’s just meant to be put out into the debate to crowd out the fact that Democrats have a huge homicide caucus.

Do they actually believe it? Well, some of them do because they’re stupid. Just trying to imagine the logistical challenges of grooming creepy loners to pull this off, and then actually pulling it off, is a daunting task. That doesn’t matter. The stupid aren’t going to think it through, and the smart but evil are going to understand that the stupid aren’t going to think it through.

Of course, their belief is irrelevant. The Left is happy to say things that it knows are absolutely false. Lying, like for radical Muslims, is not merely morally neutral; it is an affirmative good. When you affirm something you know is false in the service of leftism, when you degrade yourself by spewing what you know is a lie, and everybody else knows you know is a lie, you are actually showing the ultimate solidarity. You are offering up your dignity as a human being on the altar of commie nonsense. While normal, decent people are repelled and nauseated by the idea that someone would humiliate himself by parroting falsehoods, for a leftist, doing so is a heroic act. They’ve gone beyond good and evil, stepping into their own Marxist morality, making the ultimate sacrifice—their self-respect.

It’s super creepy. And yet it happens all the time. Look at the Left’s insistence that a man can become a woman. Now, it goes without saying that a man cannot become a woman. That can’t happen. It doesn’t happen. It’s never going to happen. We all know that. And the people telling you that it can also know that. They’re not trying to convince you of anything. They’re trying to force you into submission by repeating what they know is a lie. They don’t care that they’re lying. They think that their lie makes them a hero. Or a heroine—I don’t want to misgender anybody.

The lie that these botched assassination attempts were somehow staged, that they were false flags designed to make Trump sympathetic—there are people who insist that the famous New York Times “Fight, fight, fight” picture was posed, because, of course, the famously pro-Trump and right-wing New York Times was in on it, too—fulfills several functions besides establishing solidarity and distracting attention away from their malice. It denies the evil of the Democrats and their poisonous hatred of anyone who opposes them. It also denies Trump his heroism—he was a real man, as opposed to the sexually inadequate femboys of the Democrat Party. He got shot and didn’t run away. He threw his fist in the air in defiance. His shocking display of cisgender manhood must be undermined at all costs.

So, the half of Democrats who buy into this idea that Trump staged his own assassination attempts are divided—some are stupid, and some are evil, but they all share one thing in common. They want Trump, and us, dead.
