Saturday night, the annual Nerd Prom was suspended after a man rushed the event and shots were fired during his apprehension. To say the least, this level of drama at a media event has the media in hysterics.

One question: Would Norah EVER ask that question of a Democrat?
Immediately after Saturday night’s shooting episode, President Trump sat for a 60 Minutes interview with Norah O’Donnell. In the course of the discussion, the newswoman recanted the exact words from the manifesto of the shooter, getting them broadcast on national airwaves.
What followed was a deeply contentious exchange between the pair.

The president has a point. Any time the media would have any evidence that was this concrete and damning, and that attacked a Democrat, it is doubtful that it would make it to air.
Gilded Reframe – CNN
The timing of this fiasco could not be any better.
As the shots were heard and attendees at the gala crouched by tables as security moved into the dining room, Kaitlan Collins was managing to deliver some reports from the floor of the hall. She filed a report that the shooter had been killed, based on word she allegedly got from a Secret Service agent.
The shooter was not struck at all and had been detained and arrested. That she sent that out without corroboration or confirmation was bad enough, but soon multiple news outlets were reporting this to be the case.
Making this all the more ridiculous is that she was about to accept the award from the WHCA for distinguished reporting under a deadline, as she delivered completely false information about breaking news.
We are inside the ballroom of the Hilton. One Service agent told me the shooter is confirmed dead. Agents swarmed the room within minutes of shots being heard, running down the main aisle. But because Cabinet officials are seated throughout the room, many of them remained on the…

Reporting on the Mirror – THE FREE PRESS
Suffering from main character syndrome WHILE reporting on a live story.
Among those journalists crouched down and taking cover was Olivia Reingold. She managed to get her phone out and start covering what was transpiring – we think.
It seems that, as she was in the middle of a breaking and evolving event, Olivia felt it necessary to keep the focus on what was most important: herself. She recorded what was taking place, but had her cameraphone trained on herself the whole time. Even as she was peering about and even gesturing toward some activity, it never occurred to her to turn the phone on anything taking place; it remained focused on her the entire time.

Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – MS NOW
Curious how Ken was so sure about who he saw.
In a possibly related incident Saturday night, Ken Dilanian reported on some other activity he spotted at the gala. He reported that a member of Code Pink had attempted to crash the party but was found out and escorted from the building.
What is curious is how Ken knew this was the case, given that he even detailed that this individual had disguised themself as an attendee in order to get in. It would seem to indicate he has a deep familiarity with this activist in question.

Prose & Contradiction – CNN
Ummm, what happened to the explanations from these folks, just weeks ago?
It is deeply revealing to see what happens the moment a violent political act takes place and arrives from an inconvenient source. Initially, we were hearing press members hemming and hawing about heated words leading to this latest bout of violence, repeating some of the accusatory talk heard in recent months about the aggressive rhetoric heard from the president and Republicans. But then it was confirmed this was an avowed leftist from California.
Instantly, the discussion shifted to guns being the problem. CNN figures were suddenly discussing the gun control issue and how this is becoming too common an event in the nation.

Watch Jamie Raskin adjust the narrative on the fly.
Also noting the need to shift the talking points was Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8). He sat in with Dana Bash early Sunday morning, but the hostess threw him a curveball as she brought up the prospect that heated political discourse may have contributed to influencing the shooter.
Raskin was dismayed at this thought, and even said (hilariously), “What rhetoric?!” as if he were not a source of contemptuous talk about the president.

Just to help Raskin out with his memory, it was only a few weeks ago when he was hotly lashing out at President Trump from the House floor. At one point, he said Trump possessed “a snarling dictatorial desire.”
Realizing that there was a narrative hole that needed to be plugged, Raskin raced over to CBS studios and, within the same hour, spoke with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation, pleading that we needed to have a national conversation on guns.

Kimmel is becoming the Hasan Piker of late-night.
It seems to be something of a pattern with the Left in 2026: Each time they latch on to a new “hero,” they turn unacceptable. For months, they have tried to platform Hasan Piker, as an example, and he has only turned MORE sociopathic, to the point now that the Democratic Party is trying to figure out how to disavow the guy already.
Jimmy Kimmel has been another paper hero, and just before the WHCA event, he showed the challenge in embracing him. He delivered his own version of an emcee speech for the awards gala, and in it, he derisively projected Melania as an expected widow.
But again, it is those on the Right who are angry, crude, and fostering violence, according to these same voices.
