The Image of Keith Ellison

There’s no shortage of deceit and calumny on the part of people who demand that our children acquiesce to the tenets of transgender ideology. In their defense of the indefensible, these ideologues have become masters of twisting the truth.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison provides the most recent case study. “It is astonishing that any president would try to target, shame, and harass children just trying to be themselves,” said the state’s top law enforcement officer in response to the U.S. Department of Justice’s lawsuit against Minnesota, challenging the discriminatory policy of allowing boys to play in girls’ sports.

It is young girls who are just trying to be themselves by stepping into the arena of competitive sports. It is girls who are shamed and harassed by having to dress and undress in front of boys. It is girls who are targeted for denial of athletic recognition for excellence, as politicians demand they surrender to the incontrovertible physical superiority of males. Ellison’s reaction is a complete inversion of logic and truth, one that even George Orwell might never have imagined.

Ellison's position is well aligned with the transgender ideology that has consumed the worldview of the state’s top political elites. Governor Tim Walz signed a bill declaring Minnesota to be a “trans refuge” state three years ago. Among other things, this law allows children to be taken away from their parents if they oppose the surgical mutilation or hormonal corruption of their children's bodies through medical intervention.

Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, recently endorsed for Senate by one of the groups behind the communist-funded No Kings protests, supports the agenda by sporting a ‘Protect Trans’ tee-shirt emblazoned with a combat knife. With violent imagery such as this, it’s small wonder that a confused man murdered two Catholic school children in a Minneapolis mass shooting last summer. The gunman killed himself during the incident, but previously admitted, “I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” with transgender ideology.

Ellison’s response to those 2025 murders was not to mourn the dead children or promote improved mental health services. Instead, in an interview with National Public Radio, he advocated for more gun control. It’s part of a warped pathology that dovetails with his insistence on forcing girls to compete against boys in sports.

But Minnesota’s transgender sports policy hurts more than girls. The boys who have been lied to by evil adults into believing they really are girls are also victimized, perhaps even more so. Absent political interference, their delusions would ordinarily demand compassionate counseling and family intervention to dispel their misapprehensions of reality and usher them back to a normal state of mental health. Instead, boys and girls alike are abused as ideological cannon fodder in the left’s war against normalcy.

Adults who independently embrace transgender ideology are something that many of us shrug our shoulders about. Accepting odd adult behavior that is far outside the statistical norm is part of living in a free society, and they’re entitled to enjoy the blessings of liberty like any other American. But when perversions of science and medicine are foisted upon entire populations with the force of law, it becomes a problem that often ends disastrously.

Not since the eugenics era has America embarked on such an evil and destructive course of action. The very notion of selectively breeding human beings is an affront to morality, yet it came into vogue around the turn of the 20th century and expanded to the practice of forced sterilization of people deemed by policymakers as undesirable. All the smart people around us sold us this despicable bill of goods, presumably done in the name of building a better society.

This bastardization of American medicine and morality was so well articulated that it caught the attention of a World War I corporal who later decided it was a good model for the “racial hygiene” laws that marked Hitlerian Germany in the 1930s. Transgender ideology isn’t likely to spawn a Holocaust, but its roots, promotion and outcome are similarly reprehensible.

America eventually came to its senses and realized the awful evils of eugenics, and the same will happen with the transgender ideology now being forced on children in Minnesota and elsewhere. Ellison and others of his ilk cannot escape history and they will, in time, come to be recognized as ideological promoters of a practice so vile that future Americans will incredulously ask how we ever embarked on such a demented policy. Until that time, we can only put our hope in those who subscribe to the reality and moral certitude that we are created in the image of God and not the attorney general of Minnesota.
