No Weapon Formed Against Trump Prospered

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

One of my favorite verses of Scripture is Isaiah 54:17:

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”

This verse perfectly depicts Trump’s Election 2024 victory.

The Democratic Party, the bureaucratic Deep State of Washington DC (and the liberal enclaves in the Red States), the Trump Derangement Syndrome symptomatic Media, the Iconoclastic Academia, the Fatalistic Department of Justice plus Wall Street, Thug Street, and Fleet Street wanted Trump to fail.

But they failed.

Four criminal and civil investigations, with trumped-up (no pun intended, or perhaps duly intended) charges, convictions, and sentences, did not dissuade the voting majority of the public from supporting Trump.

And who can forget the two—TWO—assassination attempts on the former President turned President-elect?! It remains an unethical travesty, horrific that corporate media ignored these horrendous Republic measures against Trump. The public has not forgotten, and I agree with many commentators, that the Butler, PA fist-bump moment of “Fight! Fight! Fight!” was seminal in turning the tide of this election.

Every hateful, vile interest fired all their firepower on this man. And it backfired.

Not only did they fail, but the general public condemns them with impunity today. No one trusts left-wing corporate media anymore, enough that Comcast is looking to fire-sell (or just fire) MSNBC. The View has become “Pee Yew” even to more level-headed liberals like Piers Morgan. Bill Maher is cutting his losses and is now cutting up the Left and the Democratic Party for not just blowing this election but blowing off so many voters. Major newspapers finally eschewed issuing endorsements for Election 2024, and some of those liberal bastions, like The Los Angeles Times, are bringing in more conservative voices. Academia is struggling to keep students as their hollow partisanship has become exposed.

To his credit, Trump 2024 showed that he had learned from the mistakes of Trump 2017-2021, particularly regarding personnel. I was resigned to writing in Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, concerned about a Second Trump Presidency filled with another four years of half-measures, failed efforts, and broken promises.

But in came JD Vance. One of Trump’s (few) bold and successful endorsements during the Red Trickle of 2022, Vance’s ascendancy showed that Trump could put aside personal aspersions and put the Trump agenda first. Vance is just fantastic, a skilled debater and an excellent communicator who resonates with people with general charm. It was a great pick by Trump, one that solidified my support for him in 2024.

Trump has also assembled a team of marvelous supporters and thought leaders, not just podcasters and grifters. I heartily appreciate Robert F. Kennedy’s efforts to make America healthy again. Tulsi Gabbard is a cool addition to the team, representing a committed end to endless hot wars and showing that committed liberals are willing to move to the right on key cultural issues. And Elon Musk! This is a double stroke of fortune and genius. Not just a technocratic marvel but a principled philanthropist, Musk and his positive, right-leaning takeover of significant media restored the voices of common sense on social media and expanded Trump’s reach and outreach. What a wonderful reversal from 2021, when Twitter had shut down Trump. X now marks the spot where freedom of speech can reign supreme.

Last, we cannot ignore the noble, effective work of a revitalized RNC with Chairs Michael Whatley and Lara Trump. They fought the legal fights early during the campaign, stopping every stop pulled by the Democrats to lie, cheat, and steal another election. They were proactive and effective. They banked the vote and fostered voter outreach. They also encouraged and praised grassroots efforts from competent activists like Scott Pressler.

The grift is gone from the RNC but has enveloped the DNC. In a recent post-mortem rant, James Carville demands an audit with bayou fâché rage: “Where did $2.5 billion in campaign funds go?” Republicans spent a fraction of that, invested it better, and flipped seats in Pennsylvania and Michigan, buttressing the GOP US Senator majority with three seats while still holding the House of Representatives. State legislatures will also see more red seats (including in Deep Blue California, where a Hispanic Republican Pastor just flipped an assembly seat in blue border Imperial County.)

A political realignment was realized in Election 2024. All of Pat Buchanan’s gloom-and-doom that the Republican Party would become a permanent white minority has dissipated. Hispanics are voting more Republican, just as third-generation immigration populations (Irish, Italians) began voting Republican decades earlier. Black voters are waking up, especially in the urban areas, now overrun with massive illegal invasions.

And that was yet another weapon of the Democratic Party, which has not prospered. They leaned into the Great Replacement hustle, believing that replacing white voters with a relentless flood of migrants would untrue the vote with illegal registrants, thus turning Texas, Arizona (and one day, Florida) blue. The exact opposite happened, with Democratic gains flushed away in Texas, Arizona back in Column Red, and Florida a deep crimson hue (with special thanks to Governor Ron DeSantis).

Indeed, every weapon formed against President Trump did not prosper.  Every weapon. That is the closer translation of the Hebrew in Isaiah 54:17: “Every weapon that is formed against thee shall not prosper.” There is something total, consuming, and confidence-inspiring in that promise. Yes, weapons will form, and all kinds of weapons will come against you, but they will ALL fail. That’s more solid and certain, and Trump gained a solid victory, further expanding the GOP map with a popular vote certainty.

Whatever reservations remain about Trump 47 come January 20th, Trump has finished the campaign and won. During his second administration, other weapons will form against him. Let’s hope that he does not allow them to prosper, either.
