Both Kinds of Standards – NBC NEWS
Somehow, only their departures are a costly venture.
Donald Trump has been president-elect for five days, and not even in office, and the press has already begun criticizing his second term in the White House. On "Meet the Press," Kristen Welker took on the promise he has made to begin deportations of the illegal immigrants that have flowed into the country over the past four years.
For Welker, the big complaint about this is the cost. She does not, of course, look into the expense of processing, feeding, housing, and doling out other benefits to illegals. (Go ask New York and Denver officials how that obligation is going in their cities.) But the real reveal is that Kristen has not asked about the expenses attached to Joe Biden's work of flying immigrants into the country.
WATCH: Trump’s deportation plan — which he says has no “price tag” — could cost as much as $88 billion a year to deport 1 million people.@kwelkerNBC: “Would you approve of a package that big?”@SenJohnBarrasso: “I agree with the president [on] where we need to start.” pic.twitter.com/ST5t8XJvHI

News Avoidance Syndrome – POLITICO
Recommended
Donald Trump has already made his call about who will serve as his Chief of Staff – Susie Wiles. What is rather notable is the way the press loves to highlight when Democrats choose a person who presents a historic demographic group. However, Wiles being tabbed to become the first female ever in that role warrants no gushing coverage.
POLITICO, in fact, went in another direction – referencing a piece from April criticizing the record of Wiles (or lack thereof.) In an initial post, the outlet went so far as to suggest Wiles is a threat to democracy. Later, that post was taken down for a new one with a slightly softer explanation. But the excuse offered up is ridiculous since it was quoting the piece directly.
After taking down the post saying, “Is she a MAGA hero or an enemy of democracy?”, how can you say it doesn't reflect the context of the article" when those were the exact words of the sub-headline on the article?!?! https://t.co/mOAzx0sP97 pic.twitter.com/HeMAZvr8nd

Reporting on the Mirror – NBC NEWS
This is a good sign of how upset the press is after the election.
In some coverage of the FEMA scandal, where a field manager directed workers to avoid checking on homes with Trump yard signs or flags displayed, NBC reporter Mirna Alsharif was criticized for omissions and a lack of attribution.
It was noted that Alsharif did not give the details of the incident and avoided naming the individual fired over this, as well as failing to go with attribution to The Daily Wire, which broke the story. She then went on the offensive toward those calling her out, even lapsing into "your Mom" commentary. After a few of these sophomoric exchanges, Alsharif must have realized how this looked professionally and nuked her Xitter account.

Pathological Media Amnesia – MSNBC NEWS
We see that the term "lawfare" has escaped his purview.
Ken Dilanian responded to criticism of his segment discussing how Trump is alleged to be looking forward to using the Department of Justice to target political enemies. Dilanian suggests this would defy about 50 years of presidents not being involved in that department – even as it rests under the authority of the executive branch.
This is patently amusing when we look back at four federal indictments levied against Donald Trump, and Joe Biden being behind all of those by urging Merrick Garland to go after his opponent.
What I said was that if the president orders DoJ to investigate specific people, it would violate those post Watergate norms. https://t.co/DStJYvwcuq

Democratic Custodial Services – VARIETY
Thankfully, someone is standing up on behalf of the celebrities!
As the ongoing postmortem of the Kamala Harris election implosion continues, one area looked into by the entertainment outlet is the concept of celebrity endorsements possibly hurting her chances. Chris Willman attempts to dismiss this theory and then goes on to suggest that celebrities coming out were, in fact, helpful. We just need to ignore Harris getting stomped in a landslide election loss.

Reporting on the Mirror – NEW YORK MAGAZINE / THE ATLANTIC
The reliably impacted columns of Jonathan Chait are finding a new home. He has announced he is leaving the New York Magazine and will be seen working at The Atlantic, where Jeffrey Goldberg recently penned that fraudulent accusation of Trump angrily backing from a promise regarding a fallen Marine and her family.
Some personal news. Sad to say goodbye to @NYMag but thrilled to be joining @TheAtlantic https://t.co/ZwfE2ZwDHA
