The Candidates for President

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Sitting here in God’s Waiting Room, the word “facts” bounces off the walls. Why? The answer is relatively simple. As we wind down a very contentious, angry, and hate-filled name-calling Presidential race, what the dickens is true or false?

A different look at the candidates for all offices may offer some solid answers. Humans tend to reflect on their parents and the values that surround them as they grow from babies into adults. What did Mom and Dad do for a living? What were their core values, and what did they do in their communities?

Education also influences young people's actions. A liberal or conservative education will affect young people’s actions and beliefs as adults. Once they step out into the real world, they face many decisions. How they respond will reflect their home and education until they get a taste of the real world. Some will change. However, most will continue to reflect the values they have been taught when they were in diapers.

And that discussion brings us to the election. What the dickens is the truth? We are bombarded with political platitudes, promises of everything becoming free from meals to housing, medical care, college educations, and, yes, even a solution to the heartbreak of psoriasis.

Regardless of the candidate you are supporting or trying to figure out who you want to vote for, let us look back at a few proven and solidly verified facts.    Then you can decide if you are riding the right horse.

POLITICAL VALUES

Legislation forwarded or voted for generally reflect a liberal to socialist agenda

Legislation forwarded and supported generally reflect a conservative or capitalist agenda

NET WORTH

$8 million (Forbes)

$6.6 billion (Forbes)

These are bonified facts regarding the two candidate’s backgrounds, education, and work records.

If you want to get behind the multi-million-dollar noise of the campaign beyond the personalities, the editorial comments, and the conversation at the coffee shop, study the information above. Study the factual background of each candidate, not what you see in the political ads.

When you are comfortable with one candidate or the other based on how you interpret their character and beliefs based on who they are as people rather than politicians, that is the person to cast your vote for.

One final detail: be sure your choice for President puts America first. That is what we all must do. That is what we are directed to do in our US Constitution, and it has served us well for over 248 years. We do that to preserve a great country for our children and grandchildren.

Just sayin”
