Who's the Weird One?

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Tomorrow evening will be the one and only 2024 election cycle Vice Presidential debate. I am quite sure that Tim Walz will be responding with the infamous Harris-Walz talking point to any and all inquiries..."I was born into a middle-class family." But, I think we recall the Minnesota Governor giving the leftists their dog whistle talking point denigrating characterization of former President Trump and Senator Vance as weird. The progressive socialist media latched onto that calling card for over a week until a montage mocked and embarrassed them.

This Vice Presidential debate will be hosted by CBS—not exactly an advocate of principled intellectual exchange on governing philosophies and issues. In other words, they lean, almost to the point of falling down, to the left. Therefore, I felt it was incumbent upon a lowly fella like myself to pose the questions and facts they will not...and evidence of who is the weird one.

First of all, as a combat veteran, it is unconscionable to me that a senior leader of a combat unit would abandon their unit upon notification of an impending combat zone deployment. However, that is exactly what Tim Walz did as the acting Command Sergeant Major of an Army National Guard artillery Battalion. Now, leftists and Walz will say that anyone questioning said action is attacking his record of service. Hmm, one of the maxims that I grew up with in the US Army came from a superior officer who reminded me that "one aww s#@t, wipes out a thousand attaboys."

Leaders do not desert their unit and certainly do not lie about it, as Walz did. I mean, where does the guy come off talking about "carrying weapons of war?" Now, folks, that is just weird! To abandon your unit (and Walz's stated reason for wanting to run for political office does not fly because he was a member of the Reserve Component and could have asked for a waiver) and to lie about your rank for countless years (and even have the rank of Command Sergeant Major on your Congressional Challenge coin) goes beyond weird. It calls to question one's character.

Second, what kind of Governor would watch the largest city in his State burning to the ground and, before calling upon National Guard troops, ask if they have had "diversity" training? Yep, that is just plain weird.

And what is up with placing feminine hygiene products in boys’ bathrooms? Yep, weird.

However, what goes beyond weird and is highly disturbing is Walz's relationship with the Communist Chinese Party. What was the purpose of all of those trips for American students that he led to China? I mean, why did da ol' football coach not spend more time taking his students to historical places in America, lots of great places like Independence Hall? Why not share the U.S. Constitution instead of Mao's little red book? And not just that association, what about his relationship with a very radical Islamic jihadist Imam in Minnesota? And let's not forget the number of Somali males who departed Minnesota to fight for ISIS.

Walz had some of the most stringent COVID lockdown policies as Governor and even instituted a "snitch line" to report those in violation. Sounds like something you would hear from China or perhaps the East German Stasi state. Yep, weird.

Minnesota has the highest State corporate tax rate at 9.8% and the sixth highest state individual income tax rate. Now, for leftists, that ain't weird, it is just who they are. Walz's Minnesota has seen a 6.2% economic growth, far below the US economic growth rate of 11.5%. Walz signed legislation expanding taxation of businesses' international income and curtailed standard and itemized deductions for taxpayers. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Minnesota's employment growth has been just .5% since January 2019. The national number is 5.8%.

Of all that Walz has done, what goes past weird and is immoral, unethical, and diabolical is Walz's support for infanticide, which he shares with Kamala Harris. In Minnesota, unborn babies have absolutely no rights up to and after birth. In Minnesota, you can dismember a baby at any time—quite barbaric if you ask any reasonable person. Furthermore, the Weird Walz has declared that the State of Minnesota will violate parental rights and remove a child from their mother and father if they do not "affirm" their mental condition, known as gender dysphoria.

That is the essence of the deranged lunacy of progressive socialism/Marxism.

Yeah, I think we will be hearing many deflective responses from Walz, like, “I was raised in a middle-class family, and let me tell you about coaching,” especially if the seminal question is asked, "Are the American people better off today than they were four years ago?"

Boy howdy, I am truly thankful that Kamala Harris possesses one really bad sense of judgment and assessment of leadership. If she had chosen Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, this presidential race could possibly have been locked up for her. However, instead of choosing the best, due to cowering before the leftist anti-Semitic, pro-Islamic jihadist goons, Harris chose a coward and liar with ties to communist China, a dismal economic record, and a delusional social engineer.

But let us all remember those who love liberty, freedom, and individual rights. Those of us who answer the call of duty. Those of us who believe in protecting innocent life. Those of us who do not subscribe to centralized economic planning and execution. Those of us who love God, Family, and Country. Yes, to the Marxists, we are indeed weird, but we know who we are and who they are. We are Patriots; they are totalitarians. We seek to be Victors; they need victims. We desire to be Citizens; they demand subjects.

So, if a leftist calls you "weird," just smile because we all know who's the weird one.

Steadfast and Loyal!
