Stupid Buffalo and Easily Slaughtered Sheep—Part Two

Young conservative, become a teacher!

Older conservatives (or any conservative, for that matter), get on the school board!

If we don’t take over the education system, America will never recover.  As it is, it may already be too late; we’ve lost the millennials, and it will take a few decades to mend.

You reap what you sow.  We allowed the atheistic, godless, Marxist pro-government Left to have America’s educational system for the last few decades, and we are reaping a horrible harvest.  “They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind” (Hosea 8:7).  It will happen every time.

Having been a teacher all my professional career, I know that it is not the road to wealth but a good road to public service, far superior to government.  If you want to become wealthy, don’t become a teacher.  And, of course, that is the reason why many conservatives go into business—they want to make money and become rich.  And I am certainly not in the least opposed to that.  Sometimes, I wish I had done it, too.  I might not live in Thailand now but in a beachfront house in Hawaii.

But I chose to teach because teaching has its rewards, too.  You help people—IF you teach them the truth.  Sadly, too many American teachers today, most of whom I believe entered the profession with the purest of motives, have themselves been miseducated.  Some teachers/college professors lie and deceive for propaganda and ideological reasons.  And they indoctrinated too many of our current educators.  

I listened to them in countless college courses myself.  But I didn’t fall for their propaganda.  I taught for years in many places in the world, including America.  But I couldn’t do it alone.

If we want to save America in the future, we need young people willing to commit themselves to teaching the next generation.  If Donald Trump’s election this year happens, it will be utterly valueless otherwise.  A tree grows from the roots up, not the top down.

A few quotes.

1.  “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people.  They are the only sure reliance for preserving our liberty” (Thomas Jefferson).  As I noted in my first article in this series, sheep are stupid animals and can be easily led and slaughtered.  Tragically, humans are very much like sheep.  They are gullible if not adequately educated, thus easily deceived by demagogues and slaughtered by conscience-less wolves.  The Left knows, and has known, for a long time what it is doing:  don’t educate children in morality and character, propagandize them in “social justice.”  We have raised too many people who don’t know how to read, write, or do math and who know nothing about true morality.  All they know is that “racism,” “sexism,” “homophobia,” and “man-made climate change”—social justice—are wrong.

To the Left, education is not about teaching the citizens right and wrong, from which society can be changed from the bottom up by individual virtue and action. Still, it is about revolutionary change from the top down, which can be dictated and determined by our masters.  It is a major difference between conservative thought and modern Leftism.

2.  “Let us in education dream of an aristocracy of achievement arising out of a democracy of opportunity” (Jefferson).  What a marvelous statement.  If I must have surgery to save my life, I want the best surgeon available to perform it.  I want an “aristocrat of achievement” to operate on me.  When I watch a football game, I want to see the best players possible on the field—the “aristocracy of achievement.”  In any government I live under, I want the wisest, most virtuous people making decisions that will affect my life—the “aristocracy of achievement.”  I want those people to have proven themselves out of a “democracy of opportunity”—equal freedom—I don’t want them there simply because of the color of their skin or their chromosomal configuration.  I bet Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi also want “aristocracy of achievement” to operate on them, not a DEI hire.  But they support an immoral, affirmative action DEI incompetent to run the country.  Can you say “hypocrites”?

3.  “Education is useless without the Bible” (Noah Webster).  This was a near-universal belief in early America, and it makes perfect sense.  If government is to be limited to protect freedom from tyranny, then a virtuous public is absolutely essential.  John Adams’s famous quote perfectly exemplifies what our Founding Fathers established:  “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.”  When you limit government power to control people, then civilized behavior must come from somewhere, and well, let Edmund Burke explain:  “Society cannot exist, unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere; and the less of it there is within, the more there must be without.  It is ordained in the eternal constitution of things that men of intemperate minds cannot be free.  Their passions forge their fetters.”  Teaching math, reading, writing, or even history or “social justice” is valueless if virtue and moral character aren’t taught alongside of them.  That was the greatest crime committed by the Left in American history:  refusing to educate the people deliberately in moral virtue.  And the fruits are overwhelmingly manifest in America today.  “Liberty does not exist in the absence of morality” (Burke).

But the Left wants stupid buffalo and easily led and slaughtered sheep.  We gave them our education system; they politicized it and are destroying America as a result.  It’s time to take it back.  Become a teacher.  Get on your city’s school board.  Or if you can’t do that, homeschool your children.  Get involved because “the fate of good men who refuse to become involved in politics is to be ruled by evil men” (Burke).
