The Democrats’ Transformation of America, Part Three

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

“The Hindus will never become submissive and obedient until they are reduced to poverty” (attributed to the Sultan of Delhi, 5 Ala-ud-din Khalji, reigned 1296–1316).

“Forget the past and you lose both eyes” (Russian proverb).

I mentioned in my first article in this series that I live in Thailand, largely because I’m not wealthy and it would be a great strain for me to move back to America now.  Yes, I could return and try to find a job (I’m 69 years old, Wal-Mart might hire me), pay several hundred dollars a month in rent, high grocery prices, find some means of transportation (I certainly couldn’t afford a Biden EV), and struggle financially like Joe Biden and the American government is forcing countless Americans to do right now.  America is my home, and I do miss it.

But I’m just not willing to live like that.  I’ve always enjoyed living abroad, studying different cultures, etc., and I can live fairly comfortably on my limited income here in Thailand.  I’m not ready to return to America and scrape financially and barely live above the poverty line, or even below it.  I don’t have to yet, and I won’t.

The theme of this current series is the attempt by the Democratic Party to transform America from a limited government, the virtuous republic established by our Founding Fathers and revered by patriotic, godly Americans, into a totalitarian regime a la the Chinese Communist Party where rights come, not from God as announced in our Declaration of Independence, but from the government.   The Democrats are Leftist totalitarians.  They hate God, religion, Christianity, and anything—such as a limited government and a self-controlled population—that logically flows from that.  “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other,” John Adams said, and it is that Constitution, and that system of limited government, built on morality and religion, that the Democrats are straining mightily to destroy.

In a Leftist system, as exemplified by the Chinese Communist Party (and other such governments down through history), the government is the highest authority on earth.  Ultimate power resides in the hands of government tyrants—politicians, judges, bureaucrats, etc.—not the people.  The people’s rights thus come from the government, not from God.  Any right the government gives, it can take away.  I mentioned that such is exactly what happened to me—actually, more than once—when I lived in China for ten years.  I was victimized, and my freedoms were denied, by a Leftist totalitarian system.  Don’t any of you Leftists out there tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about?  I’ve seen it and I LIVED IT!

Such a government demands that, since it has all power, the people must be submissive. And dependent upon it.  The quote at the beginning of this column from the Sultan of Delhi is perfectly in harmony with current Democratic Party practices.  Their policies are destroying the American economy, squeezing the middle class into virtual poverty, and, well, creating Americans like me who can no longer afford to live there comfortably.  The Sultan of Delhi’s plan to impoverish Hindus was deliberate; it is hard to see how the Democratic Party isn’t doing the same thing—deliberately.  If it isn’t deliberate, what would they have to do to make it deliberate?

And they are deliberately allowing countless millions of illegals into the country, many of whom have come for the express purpose of becoming wards of the American government.  If amnestied, most of them (I hope) will have to work, but they are not people of skilled labor, thus will always have low-paying jobs and live at, near, or below the poverty line.  The Democrats have invited a huge underclass into the country that is the perfect soil for building a totalitarian government.  Read the Sultan of Delhi’s quote again.

Every move the Democrats make stems from their totalitarian ideal of government, i.e., that your rights come from the government, and that you are only “free” to do what the government allows you to do.  The Second Amendment doesn’t establish a God-given right to own a gun; that right comes from the government, and the Democrats are determined to take that right away from everyone except their criminal constituency—a constituency, mind you, that they need to create the societal chaos necessary for the further growth of government.  Mao Zedong and Vladimir Lenin used civil wars to take and solidify power in their countries.  We may have a Democratic Party-caused civil war in America yet, too, but if they can incrementally grow the government into a totalitarian entity that they control, that would suit them just fine.  It doesn’t matter how you cook the frog—throw him into the pot of boiling water, or set him into steadily heating water and let him cook unknowingly, gradually.  The result is the same—a dead frog that gets eaten.

Keep in mind that this is a process of transformation the Democratic Party is putting America through.  It is not, and cannot be, a single event.  The Marxist, Leftist philosophy has captured the leadership of the party, but most Americans, so far, have not totally acquiesced to it.  It takes time, and early Marxists said so.  They have slowly educated and converted, many millions of Americans to their viewpoint, and they are immigrating millions of others into the country.  As they have the ability, they are trying to use the strong arm of the government to crush their enemies—as with Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, abortion-opposing grandmothers, and others.  The Democrats show clear signs of totalitarianism in everything they do.  But they don’t have totalitarian power yet.

But it’s what they’re attempting to transform America into.  It takes time, but that’s the goal.  We must study history.  Forget the past and you lose both eyes.  And your freedom.
