I’m glad my kids are too young to realize just how stupid most of the people who lead our government are. I’d like them to be realists about idiots rising in power, but at 6 and 5 it’s a little too soon for that, let childhood bloom.
Meanwhile, the rest of us have to live in a world where our tax dollars pay the salaries of morons to have the equivalent of a “your mama” match in the halls of Congress.
Look, I don’t have a dog in that hunt – I’d say AOC is a mile wide and an inch deep, but she’s far too shallow for that, I find Jasmine Crockett about as interesting as an infected cut, and Marjorie Taylor Greene is about as helpful as a wet cat.
And I don’t particularly care if Congressional hearings devolve into the Tom Brady Roast, most Members of Congress are worthless and, if we’re being honest, ugly and stupid on top of it. If they want to beat the hell out of each other metaphorically, or even literally, go for it. Put it on pay-per-view and help pay off the debt. I’d watch MMA: Congress, and you know you would too, whether you want to admit it or not.
However, it would be much more palatable had all the morons up there handled everything else, and handled it well, so their fighting would not be in front of a steaming pile of Congress.

But a steaming pile of Congress is what we have, and what we deserve, honestly.
We vote for these idiots. We put them in the office. We give them high-paying jobs with pensions, pensions that kick in after not having worked there that long. Do you have a pension? If you’re under 35, do you even know what a pension is?
Not only do we give them – or, more accurately, allow them to give themselves – a pension, the job we give them is a springboard to very, very high-paying jobs after they leave office. While it’s not guaranteed, it’s certainly likely that being elected to Congress is a pathway A LOT of money.
Couldn’t we raise the bar for who gets those jobs? Honestly, couldn’t we at least expect them to be people with IQs slightly larger than their shoe size? Let them fight, I don’t really care, but long after they’ve finished everything else.
Lord knows there are a lot of idiots in Washington I’d love to see get smacked upside the head or body slammed, but requiring them to wait while not on the clock isn’t too much to ask.
Hell, bring in the President, too. Joe Biden, when not losing fights with a teleprompter, door, stage or stairs, is always talking about how tough he is and would like to fight this person or that one, give him the shot to do that while he still stands a chance of remembering it for a little while.
Make all of the government a battle royale; a fight to the finish to see who gets their way. Then we need to toss them all out every couple of years.
These are gross people; these are morons and idiots – people with the intelligence level of a wad of chewed gum. It makes you wonder what the alternatives to electing them were. What was on the other side of the ballot, either in the primary or general election? Was it a choice between Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a perversely violated tube sock? Then I could understand why people chose her, but only maybe.
Forget “the best,” if you really look at the people we send to DC can you honestly say they’re good enough?
Forget whether or not you’d like to have a beer with these people, a good test is to ask yourself if you’d like it if they moved in next door to you or dated your sister. Not “Would you like to hang out with them,” but “Could you tolerate having to hang out with them”?
The thing about Members of Congress is they never leave you alone, either party. They’re always doing “something,” even when nothing is needed or wanted. Either they just do it because they can, or they do it because they think they have to.
Whatever the reason, they’re usually proposing a “government solution” to a problem created by something they did with the government – a classic snake eating its own tail. Why would we expect people so dumb they need to wear slip-on shoes, lest they choke themselves to death trying to tie laces, to get anything right or even make things better?
Washington, DC, is a high school with paychecks. It’s a fancy high school with large paychecks, but the mentality is exactly the same as wherever you went, only the cliques are bigger and get to screw you over in ways much larger than how comfortable you felt in homeroom.
The only way to truly expect better is to elect better.
