Regardless of any delusions you, I, or anyone else may harbor on this issue, the odds that Donald Trump will be saddled with at least one FELONY conviction out of the dozens he is currently charged with are exceedingly high. It doesn’t even matter whether the charges are with or without merit. If a firing squad is pointing 91 rounds at someone, at least one of them is gonna hit the target. This means that this time next year, instead of campaigning or even accepting the GOP nomination in person, the former president could either be in prison or on house arrest, playing golf with an ankle bracelet.
Make no mistake. They are removing Trump from the board.
"BUT BUT BUT, THEY CAN'T DO THAT!!!" you exclaim. I get it. It’s awful, and they shouldn’t be allowed to do it, much less get away with it.
Except they can, and they are. You can scream and cry all you want about the injustice of it all, but it won't change a thing. They have the power, and, unlike our people who have and have had similar power, THEY are USING it.
It's easy to say, maybe even therapeutic. But it's a pipe dream. I’ve seen pundits and Trump supporters on social media claim that even prison won’t stop the Trump Train, that he can win an election, and even run the country from a jail cell if need be. This is a delusion. Not only will the fact that he will be a convicted felon help prevent him from winning in the first place - but normies have indicated in poll after poll that they will not vote for a convicted felon no matter how unjust you or I think those convictions may be - being in prison will also prevent him from assuming office on the off chance he does manage to win because, you know, he’ll BE IN PRISON.

So, what’s the leftist game plan here? Is it to remove Trump from the board? Obviously. Is it to remove him from the board RIGHT NOW? That’s a whole other matter. It seems evident that the powers that be want to secure a GOP nomination for Trump while making it impossible for him to win or even compete in the general election. A win was already going to be an uphill climb, but now it's absolutely impossible, and they know it. Felony indictments and convictions may rally the core base, but they make any candidate poison to normies, and you need normies to win a general election. It's actually a pretty solid strategy on their part, and it's working.
So, if whining about it won't work - and it won't because they DON'T CARE and literally drink your tears - it does seem like the best response will come at the ballot box. But how? The obvious play, and the one that many on Twitter/X seem hellbent on, seems to be to make Trump our nominee out of spite. It’s an understandable instinct borne of human nature. When your guy is under attack, you rally around him.
Except, they've got that covered. This isn't a game, yet they are playing 4D chess to your checkers. Do you think they are stupid? Do you think they didn't know full well that you would react in anger and frustration? Do you think they didn't make all the political calculations beforehand? Of course they did, and you want to do exactly what they’re counting on.
The smart play would be to do what they don't expect, to nominate someone they haven't removed from the field who is electable and shares many, if not most, of Trump's actual policies. A person who has shown they would and could be ruthlessly efficient at eliminating the deep state and reforming the justice system.
This would be the way to both save the country AND help Donald Trump. Because if a Democrat gets elected, and a Democrat indeed WILL get elected if he is the nominee, Trump has zero chance of getting pardoned of at least the federal charges against him.
Sadly, far too many GOP voters right now seem incapable of considering the smart play. They are still lashing out with their emotions instead of thinking strategically.
Thankfully, there’s still time. The election is still a long way off, and many key events will affect the ultimate result. Here’s to hoping enough of us decide to do something they don’t expect because doing what they DO expect won’t get you the results you think you’re going to get.
