Liberals Get A Big Dose Of Their Own Medicine

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

There are few things as satisfying as watching a Democrat being pummeled by the same rules they force everyone else to live by. Cancel culture is cancer, but I do love it when it comes to the left. As I’ve said for years, Frankenstein’s monster always returns to burn the castle. Democrats could always rile up a mob, but they couldn’t control it after a short period, and it would eventually consume them too. And it’s happening.

I enjoy watching it happen on a small scale – when some leftist on a college campus has some old tweet or high school issue pop up and smack them upside the head in a way they’d chanted others need to be destroyed over – but I really love when it happens at one of the breeding grounds for the mass dissemination of cancel culture on others. Enter the New York Times.

During the summer of BLM/ANTIFA riots in 2020, the Old Gray Lady got a dose of modern leftism when their opinion page editor was forced out over having run an op-ed by a Republican Senator calling for restoring order to cities terrorized by Democrat mobs. The left-wing employees of the Times whined that running that column somehow “Risked the lives of Times employees, especially employees of color.” Remember that?

It was incredibly stupid; it was never scrutinized or challenged for the pile of excrement it was, and the paper’s leadership caved to their demands. Bosses had a chance to show they had something in the front of their underwear, and they only demonstrated that they’d filled the back of their underwear at the first pushback they got from the goon squad.

Caving to the leftist mob only emboldens the leftist mob, and now they’re back.

The New York Post reports Times employees who are members of the Alphabet Mafia – the “LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ community” – are outraged over being told they shouldn’t bother everyone with their personnel problems, that they should be directed through the proper channels.

“Natalia Villalobos — the paper’s vice president of inclusion, strategy, and execution — told workers to stop chirping on a Slack channel called ‘TimesOut’ and use other avenues to voice their complaints,” the Post wrote

I have to assume “TimesOut” is the Slack channel (an internal message board/instant message system so reporters can communicate and collaborate about work more efficiently) is the gay platform at the Times, which makes you wonder why there would be a place for gay employees to communicate exclusively about work? It’s likely because they’re leftists first, and leftists live for victimhood; this channel would allow them to find and foster outrage, increasing their Times Social Score. Being put upon is a status symbol on the left, replacing accomplishment.

Turns out gay Times employees were apparently trying to out-complain each other on this channel, overwhelming whatever work-related communications were happening there. “Villalobos reportedly asked employees who had concerns about issues in the workplace to raise them in either an ‘ask-the-company’ Slack channel, one-on-one with a manager, or directly going to human resources,” the Post reported, which seems reasonable. There are avenues to address concerns, not wide communications networks.

Well, the Alphabet Mafia did not appreciate that at all. One member chirped, “I can’t help but feel lately like I’m expected to just shut up and deal with the negativity because it might make some of my coworkers feel uncomfortable if I speak up.” Do you mean to act like a damn adult? “Negativity,” by the way, is likely not being treated like you’re special because of sexuality.

Another burped, “It feels completely surreal and disrespectful to get corporate swag branded with a pride flag at the same time as we’re being instructed not to publicly discuss our experiences as queer people in the workplace.”

You are probably asking how it is that the left-wing New York Times, in the left-wing state of New York, on the left-wing island of Manhattan, in the left-wing section of mid-town, became a hotbed of homophobia, and you wouldn’t be alone. There is no pleasing these people, so you shouldn’t even try. Never hire anyone who’d be a lawsuit to fire, and pronouns or flags of any sort other than the American flag are a pretty good indication of probable trouble.

That having been said, I do encourage everyone to urge every leftist Times employee to complain to their employer about the oppression they feel, real or imagined (the social credits spend the same), and file a complaint with their union too. Hand the monster a gas can and some matches as he stumbles back into the castle; they deserve it.

I do love it when leftists get a hefty dose of their own medicine. It’s their own damn fault it’s a spiky suppository, so make them take it and enjoy the show.
