December Economic Data More Evidence of Biden’s Failed Policies

Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign famously said elections were about “the economy, stupid.” As we begin 2022, Joe Biden better hope voters don’t judge him by that same standard in this year’s upcoming midterms. The Labor Department recently released economic data from December, and the numbers revealed Biden ended his disastrous first year in office not with a bang, but a whimper.

First there was December’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) that showed prices rose a whopping seven percent last month. That’s the sharpest spike in nearly 40 years, and it’s a searing indictment of just how miserably Biden has failed in such a short period of time. As prices continue to skyrocket month after month it’s clear inflation isn’t temporary like Team Biden repeatedly assured. 83% of Americans now say they are getting poorer because of Biden’s inflation tax. Rising prices are forcing families to shell out an average of $3,500 extra a year just to maintain their same standard of living. Everyday life is becoming increasingly unaffordable for Americans of all backgrounds. Biden has no solutions for suffering Americans, except to try to spend trillions more of your money that even liberal economists say will make the situation worse. Voters aren’t going to stand for it.

Unfortunately, an affordability crisis isn’t the only economic hardship Biden is inflicting on our country. America is also facing a jobs crisis because of this president’s epic mismanagement of our economy. In fact, December’s jobs report was the worst of Biden’s presidency, with the economy adding less than half the number of jobs economists predicted. By this point we shouldn’t be surprised that December’s jobs numbers were a massive miss. Underwhelming jobs reports under this president are becoming the new normal and as predictable as a Biden beach vacation. In four of the past five months, the economy has added back far fewer jobs than expected.

As disappointing as December’s numbers were, January’s jobs report will likely be even worse. That’s because the December job report doesn’t reflect the economic disruption caused by the reemergence of the virus that Biden hasn’t “shut down” like he promised. All told, there are still 3.6 million Americans who haven’t recovered jobs they lost during the pandemic. Biden wants you to think this is cause for celebration. It’s bad enough that Biden’s far-left policies are failing Americans. Even worse? He just doesn’t care. If he did, he wouldn’t have had lawyers before the Supreme Court arguing for his administration’s, job- killing vaccine mandates on the same day that December’s dismal numbers were released. Fortunately the Court has now issued a stay blocking Biden’s mandate for private businesses, a victory for workers and job creators all across America and one the Republican National Committee (RNC) was crucial in seeing through.

While Biden continues to fail, Republicans are leading economic recoveries in their states and showing why real conservative leadership works. Currently, 17 of the top 20 states for jobs recovered since the pandemic began are led by Republican governors. It’s the same story when it comes to states with the lowest unemployment rates, where 16 of the top 20 are Republican-run.

Americans are taking notice. Even though the midterms are still ten months away, people are voting with their feet as I write. Americans are fleeing Democrat-run states in droves and packing up and moving to red states where taxes are low, jobs are plentiful and leaders prioritize freedom. Eight of the top ten American cities with the fastest-growing housing markets are in states with Republican governors. Meanwhile, the common denominator between the top five states people are moving out of the most? All of them have Democrat governors. This exodus out of blue states and into red ones is only going to accelerate as Biden and his fellow Democrats continue to fail.

The December CPI numbers and jobs report shows Biden is squandering the economic recovery he inherited from President Trump and rejecting pro-growth Republican policies. Biden’s many failures – whether on the economy, COVID-19, crime, or the border – are why he is going to squander his narrow congressional majorities this November. A Red Wave is coming, and when it hits, Republicans are going to win back the House and Senate and start putting our country back on the right track.
