Biden's Outrageous Debate Answer on 'Systemic Racism'

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

While the mainstream media, Democrats, late-night talk show hosts, and your liberal brother-in-law on Facebook obsessively scream that President Donald Trump didn't disavow racism and white supremacy for the 150th time using the language that only they demand he uses, let's do something a little different, shall we?

Let's look at the overlooked response Vice President Joe Biden stumbled through on race and law and order.

Here's the transcript:

Chris Wallace: Do you believe that there is a separate but unequal system of justice for Blacks in this country?

Vice President Joe Biden:  Yes, there is. There’s systemic injustice in this country, in education and work and in law enforcement and the way in which it’s enforced. But look, the vast majority of police officers are good, decent, honorable men and women. They risk their lives every day to take care of us, but there are some bad apples. And when they occur, when they find them, they have to be sorted out. They have to be held accountable. They have to be held accountable. And what I’m going to do as President of the United States is call together an entire group of people at the White House, everything from the civil rights groups, to the police officers, to the police chiefs, and we’re going to work this out.

We’re going to work this out. So we changed the way in which we have more transparency, in when these things happen. These cops aren’t happy to see what happened to George Floyd. These cops aren’t happy to see what happened to Breonna Taylor. Most don’t like it, but we have to have a system where people are held accountable when… And by the way, violence in response is never appropriate, never appropriate. Peaceful protest is, violence is never appropriate.

Let's begin with that last part first.

"And by the way, violence in response is never appropriate, never appropriate. Peaceful protest is, violence is never appropriate."

If you are vying for the job of president of the United States, the chief law enforcement officer in the country, and on a national stage, your condemnation of violence plaguing the streets of America's largest cities is a throw-away after-thought beginning with a "and by the way..." maybe it's fair to say you aren't really making a forceful condemnation of the violence.

Also, who is perpetrating the violence, Mr. Biden? And who are the victims of this violence?

Most importantly, whose job will it be to stop that violence, clean-up after the violence, tend to the wounds resulting from that violence, put out the fires started by that violence, and track down, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of that violence?

Answer: the first responders and cops you just threw under the bus as an extension of a "systemically racist" government.

That's right, Mr. Biden, you can't have it both ways.

Biden said, "there's systemic injustice in this country, in education and work and in law enforcement and the way in which it's enforced," and then immediately attempted to claim that "the vast majority of police officers are good, decent, honorable men and women." How can those two statements be true?

If there is "systemic injustice in the way law is enforced," according to Biden and his BLM handlers, then how can those who are doing that racist enforcement also be good people?

Whose side is Biden really on here?

If Biden believes laws are enforced in a systemically racist and unjust way, he is saying that cops are guilty of racism in how they carry out their duties. There are no other interpretations of this statement.

Furthermore, and probably even more importantly, if Biden believes there is "systemic injustice in this country, in education and work and in law enforcement and the way in which it's enforced," isn't it fair to ask where this system came from?

I think it is. And, if anyone is paying attention, it came from Joe Biden.

Whatever our system consists of in this country with regard to education, work and the law, the paper trail for our workplace, education and law enforcement policies lead right back to the U.S. Congress where Joe Biden has served as a senator since 1972, not counting the eight years he served as the "right-hand man" for the president of the United States.

If we are plagued by systemic racism in so many facets of our government (education, law, etc.), what did Joe Biden do to create such conditions? After all, he brags about his record, so let's hold his record up for scrutiny.

Biden is guilty of an embarrassing self-own here. He has been at the highest levels of government for nearly 20% of our country's history. If he actually did anything in all those years, then he must be responsible for this horribly racist system we are living under. Why on earth would anyone concerned about our systemically racist country put the guy who had a hand in creating the system in charge of "fixing" it?
