Media Grinches Try to Steal White House Christmas

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

The media  attacks on First Lady Melania Trump’s attire, the White House decorations, and the events the First Family will host are the wrong way to welcome in the Christmas season. They are hurtful, mean, and un-American.

Instead of looking for opportunities to smear our political opponents, we should be coming together to celebrate a beautiful and holy time of year.

Christmas in America is always special. We get to enjoy spending time with our loved ones as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Nowhere in the world can compare to America during Christmastime, and with President Trump protecting our religious liberty so vigorously, we are going to keep it that way. Americans are wishing each other “Merry Christmas” freely and joyfully once again — fulfilling a campaign promise for which the President was widely mocked by those who wish to turn Christmas into just another secular holiday.

Those same people are lashing out in frustration, and their attempts to demean our First Lady are ugly and unmerited. How can such a hateful spirit persist in the midst of the Christmas season, a time when we should be healing, loving, forgiving, and, for those who share my Christian faith, celebrating Jesus Christ as an expression of faith?

Our First Lady is a gem among gems, whose beauty, grace, and strength of character are second to none. As it is written in the Book of Proverbs, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” We should be holding Melania up for the world to see, not trying to tear her down.

As usual, the First Lady has adorned the White House in a manner that reflects her stunningly good taste, turning the always beautiful Christmas decor into a truly breathtaking display. The decorations are exquisite, creative, festive, elegant, and celebratory — words that also perfectly describe the way Melania looked when she announced them.

Why would anyone want to disparage the First Lady with vicious lies after she worked so hard to provide us with such beauty? We should all be thanking her and her talented staff, who go so far out of their way every year to turn the White House into an aesthetic treasure that we can all take pride in.

I’ll be enjoying the fruits of her labors at the White House Christmas Open House this year, and I couldn’t be more grateful to the First Family for giving me the opportunity to celebrate this holy season with them in such a lovely environment.

The Christmas season is a time to remember what matters most. We are all Americans. We still live in the greatest country on the planet. We should be thankful for that and approach the Christmas season in unity and Agape love.

God bless you, and Merry Christmas.
