There are no two ways about it, the Democrats are in a civil war. Of course, primary season has begun with the passing of the first round of Democratic debates, so one would expect a certain degree of infighting and jockeying for position, as with any political party at such a time. Yet something darker, more deranged, more Orwellian has taken hold. The socialist self-destruction is great for Donald Trump, great for America, and truly great entertainment. The Democrats may as well be living on Animal Farm.
For those who have missed it, Nancy Pelosi, the Trotsky/Snowball old school socialist of George Orwell’s classic has been throwing not so subtle jabs at Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Stalin/Napoleon fierce new socialist determined to seize control. From Pelosi’s sniping at AOC’s wing of the party as “That’s like five people” during a 60 Minutes interview with Lesley Stahl, to her recent comments to The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd, “All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world, but they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got,” Pelosi has been taking the fight for the soul of the left to her would-be usurper.
Not to be outdone, AOC took a break from her misinformation campaign about the border crisis to swing back at the old guard: “That public “whatever” is called public sentiment.” AOC naturally enlisted the assistance of her comrade in leftist arms, Rashida Tlaib, who quickly chimed in: “Uplift the women, especially the women of color in your caucus. More people like us, more people like me that come out to vote, we win.” It’s not surprising that Tlaib brought race into the infighting. The party of victimhood and identity politics trying to out victim and ‘identity’ each other is as common as economic and social collapse in socialist countries. But the first shots of the rebellion have been fired, and no doubt, many more will follow. Even Stalin couldn’t drive out the Trotskyites with just a couple of zingers.
Meanwhile, as the lefties slug it out in the House, Joe Biden’s campaign has been forced to do so many flip-flops he might need to start buying Dramamine in bulk. After spinning around three times on the Hyde Amendment just a month ago, Uncle Joe has been forced to walk back his history of trying to work with people he disagrees with. He has just recently refused to apologize for past associations with segregationists and opposition to school busing programs in the 1970’s, only to reverse course in South Carolina this week and apologize for the former. “Was I wrong a few weeks ago to somehow give the impression to people that I was praising those men who I successfully opposed time and again? Yes, I was. I regret it, and I’m sorry for any of the pain or misconception they may have caused anybody,” he said at an event in Sumter, S.C. Biden recently went even so far as to issue a formal, faux and futile apology to Anita Hill, Clarence Thomas’ highly questionable accuser.
If the left is living out Animal Farm, then Biden has become Boxer, Orwell’s old workhorse. No longer able to fulfill his purpose and thus sent to his death at the hands of the knacker, or in this case, the extreme progressive agenda. The pull of the radical left is so strong millions of Kennedy and Clinton (Bill that is) Democrats are sending out search efforts to find ‘their’ party. As Pat Buchanan astutely observed, “Are the Democrats Ceding The Center to Trump?” Any party that willfully relinquishes the center sheds any chance at capturing the White House.

With the public faces of the Democratic majority in the house firing shots at each other like a game of laser tag, coupled with the left, extreme left, and somewhat centrist factions of the Democrats in full on assault on one another, the Democrats are in the midst of full-scale civil war. A civil war that is only going to get more intense as the primaries grow closer.
It may not be a great way to run a party, but it will be great for President Trump’s re-election, great for the country and immensely entertaining.
