What Would “Tailgunner Joe” McCarthy Make of Donald Trump?

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

Much of my hate-mail lately has a new theme. Seems I’ve morphed from a despicable CIA-shill to a ….well….despicable CIA-shill. The title of the denunciations remains constant—but the theme of the denunciations has shifted.

You see, amigos: for leftists, a person who exposes the communists Fidel Castro and Che Guevara as mass-murderers, terrorists, thieves and cowards –such a despicable person serves as a shameless, lying shill for the CIA and Wall Street.

And nowadays, among many Trump supporters, a person who scoffs at Trump’s accusations (parroting a KGB-Fidel Castro-hatched disinformation meme) that “right-wing Cuban exiles” helped assassinate president Kennedy—such a sleazy, lying slimeball ALSO qualifies as a shill for the CIA and Wall Street.

“May you live in interesting times,” says a (purported) ancient Chinese curse. Point out that Trump is spreading (and even tripling down) on a disinformation meme hatched by Fidel Castro and the KGB, and spread by (among many others) Che Guevara, Oliver Stone and Jane Fonda –and many Trump supporters will promptly denounce you as a “communist-traitor!”

Surely times don’t get much more interesting than these. Stanley Kramer’s 1963 movie “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” never knew the half of it! Nowadays the Republican candidate is the one whoridicules “alarmists” who claim that “The Russians are Coming! The Russians are Coming!”

In the late 1940s and early 50s a person’s answer to the question “Who Lost China” pretty much told you where they stood politically. In the mid 1960s to early 70s the answer to “Who Killed Kennedy” served much the same purpose. The answer likewise indicated whether you were a “Hawk” or “Dove” on Vietnam.

Indeed the book regarded as the “Bible of the Hard-Right” John Stormer’s “None Dare Call it Treason” called out the Castro-Soviet disinformation ruse about “right-wing Cuban exiles” assassinating Kennedy almost from day one, right behind my relative Carlos Bringuier, who called-out the Communist lie literally from day one, and has had leftist kooks, KGB agents of influence and Cuban intelligence operatives defaming him ever since.

Here’s a good rule of thumb, amigos: whenever you’re reading about the Kennedy assassination and the author claims the scuffle between “CIA-agent Carlos Bringuier” and “ CIA patsy L.H. Oswald” in New Orleans was “staged”—instantly upon encountering this Castro-KGB meme, start laughing. You can keep reading, but for the sake of your intellectual integrity, read the remainder in the same frame of mind as you read Mad Magazine or The Onion.

In today’s Alice in Wonderland world of many Trump-supporters, this JFK assassination issue has been turned topsy-turvy. In brief, these people are gaping suckers for a disinformation meme hatched by the KGB-and the Cuban communist who came within a whisker of nuking their nation. Soviet archives prove this beyond all doubt. So again: how could “Tail Gunner Joe” McCarthy wrap his head around this election?

And speaking of my services as a “CIA shill,” please be aware that some former CIA officers themselves bristle at the notion. In fact, your humble servant has come in for some brutal bashing specifically at the hands of former CIA officials. Some are highly-displeased (embarrassed) by my books, where I documented how they backed Fidel Castro and Che Castro—both morally and financially. To wit:

Writing in the prestigious International Journal of Intelligence and CounterIntelligence (Volume 27, Issue 2, 2014) the man who served as the CIA’s crackerjack station chief in Santiago Cuba (the area where Raul Castro operated) from 1957-60 Robert D. Chapman bashes my book The Longest Romance pretty severely. In the official journal of American Center for Democracy he titles the same review: Righting Cuban History.”

Gee? Now what could possibly have motivated him?

Well, let’s see; my earlier book Fidel: Hollywood’s Favorite Tyrant included a chapter very subtly titled, “Stupid Liberals in the CIA.” My latest book includes the following items:

“Me and my staff were all Fidelistas,” boasted Robert Reynolds, the CIA’s “Caribbean Desk’s specialist on the Cuban Revolution” from 1957-1960.

Everyone in the CIA and everyone at State was pro-Castro, except (Republican) ambassador Earl Smith.” (CIA operative in Santiago Cuba 1957’59, Robert Weicha.)

“Don’t worry. We’ve infiltrated Castro’s guerrilla group in the Sierra Mountains. The Castro brothers and Ernesto “Che” Guevara have no affiliations with any Communists whatsoever.” (crackerjack Havana CIA station chief Jim Noel 1958.)

In the fall of ’57, the CIA smuggled into Cuba the state-of-the-art transmitters that became Castro and Che’s “Radio Rebelde” From these mics, the Castroites broadcast their “guerrilla victories” island-wide, along with their plans to uplift Cuba into a Caribbean Shangri-La.

“Without U.S. help Fidel Castro would never have gotten into power,” flatly testified former U.S. Ambassador to Cuba, Earl T. Smith during Congressional testimony in 1960… “The State Department played a large part in bringing Castro to power. The press, and the Chief of the CIA Section and other U.S. Government agencies also responsible…we (the U.S.) are responsible for bringing Castro in power. I do not care how you want to word it.”

My sources for the items that (so understandably offend and embarrass former CIA officer Chapman) are the sworn Congressional testimony of two former U.S. ambassadors to Cuba and the accounts from one of pre-Castro Cuba’s most respected political figures

Interestingly, former Santiago CIA station-chief Robert D. Chapman–while claiming I’m rewriting Cuban History–does not directly challenge the veracity (much less refute) any of the quotes or other items about the CIA which I expose in my book.
