Seminaries slate luncheons at Houston SBC

HOUSTON (BP) -- Alumni and friends of Southern Baptists' six seminaries will gather Wednesday, June 12, in Houston to hear updates from their respective schools and renew their friendships.

The noontime luncheons will be held in conjunction with the June 11-12 annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in Houston's George R. Brown Convention Center.

A list of the seminaries' plans follows:

GOLDEN GATE -- Jeff Iorg, Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary's president, will be the featured speaker at the alumni and friends luncheon Wednesday, June 12, at noon in Room 320 A/B/D/E on Level 3 of the George R. Brown Convention Center. Iorg will report on the seminary's activities over the past year and discuss new initiatives for the coming year. In addition, Golden Gate's distinguished alumni awards will be presented. Reserved tickets, at $10 per person, are available by calling 1-888-442-8709 or emailing rsvp@ggbts.edu. Tickets also may be purchased at the SBC annual meeting at Golden Gate's booth in the Exhibit Hall.

MIDWESTERN -- Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary will host its annual alumni & friends luncheon Wednesday, June 12, at noon in Room 361A-F of Level 3, of the George R. Brown Convention Center. Midwestern's new president, Jason K. Allen, will share his vision for the seminary. To purchase a $20 luncheon ticket, email Ann Judd at ajudd@mbts.edu or call Midwestern's institutional advancement office at 816-414-3720. Include complete names of all attendees, cell phone and email address. Reservations are due before Tuesday, June 4. Reserved tickets can be picked up and paid for at Midwestern's Exhibit Hall booth on Monday or Tuesday during the SBC annual meeting.

NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary's alumni relations office will host a reunion luncheon for alumni and friends, Wednesday, June 12, at the SBC annual meeting in Houston. Immediately following the morning session, the luncheon will be served in Room 360A-F on Level 3 of the George R. Brown Convention Center. In addition to connecting with friends and former classmates, NOBTS President Chuck Kelley will update attendees on the previous year's developments and activities at the seminary. The Distinguished Alumni for 2013 will be named and the national alumni treasurer will be elected. Worship will be lead by musical guests Chris and Diane Machen. Tickets are $20 per person if purchased by May 31, $25 afterward. To purchase a ticket before the convention, send a check payable to NOBTS to New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Attn: Alumni Relations, 3939 Gentilly Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70126. SOUTHEASTERN -- Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary will host its annual alumni and friends luncheon on June 12 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom A of the George R. Brown Convention Center. Daniel Akin, Southeastern's president, will address the topic of "Celebrating the Past, Looking to the Future." Luncheon tickets are $20 per attendee. SOUTHERN -- Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will welcome alumni from around the country for its annual luncheon at the Southern Baptist Convention at noon on Wednesday, June 12, on Level 3 of the George R. Brown Convention Center in Grand Ballroom B. Attendees will enjoy fellowship and hear what God is doing in and through Southern Seminary from President R. Albert Mohler Jr.

SOUTHWESTERN -- Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary's national alumni luncheon on June 12 will begin at noon in Grand Ballroom C of the George R. Brown Convention Center. SWBTS President Paige Patterson will present the seminary's annual report and the 2013 distinguished alumnus awards to Frank Page, president of the SBC Executive Committee, and Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn. Tickets may be purchased for $20 per person online at www.swbts.edu/sbclunch or by calling 1-877-GO SWBTS (467-9287). Tickets also will be available during the SBC annual meeting at Southwestern's booth in the Exhibit Hall.
